The Charred Desert
Around the Nightlands is a ring of sand made from the pulverized debris from the Rift. These sands are called The Charred Desert.
Geography
The Charred Desert extends all the way around the edge of the Nightlands boarder making a band that ranges in thickness between 10 and 20 kilometers.
Wind in the desert always points toward the Nightlands, while the wind boarder on the edge of the Nightlands flings the sand up and out to the outer edge of the desert. This constant wind saps the water from the desert and deposits it in the Nightlands.
Fauna & Flora
No organic creature can survive in The Charred Desert in the long term, the sand is irradiated and the air circulating though the desert is poisonous as well.
Natural Resources
The sands are made of space fairing metals, making much of it valuable if properly broken down and separated out.
