The shimmer tent is essential for surviving
Eldritch Storms when out in the open. These tents come in many sizes and shapes, from simple shelters for a single person up to multi-room pavilions. What each tent has in common is a pattern of metallic threads woven through the fabric that attracts the harmful effects of magical storms and and redirects them into crystals harvested from the Shimmerfell.

As the crystals are exposed to the storms they collect the raw magical energy and begin to glow. The magic contained in each crystal slowly drains out, allowing most crystals to be reused again and again. In extreme circumstances, whether it be an extraordinarily powerful storm, or a series of storms before the crystals can discharge their stored energy, a crystal may overload and explode. An exploding crystal, besides reducing the effectiveness of the protection it provides, can damage those in the immediate vicinity. For this reason, crystals are usually arranged around the edge of the tent and the material supporting them is reinforced to provide added protection to the tent's occupants.
Better tents are typically made of better materials and enhanced with more, and larger, crystals. Magical versions of shimmer tents also exist.

Shimmer tents provide a circumstance bonus to saving throws made to resist the effects of an Eldritch Storm. The larger the tent, typically the more crystals it can harness and the greater the protection it provides.
Tents come in a variety of sizes and accommodate between one and 10 people. Two Small creatures count as a Medium creature, and one Large creature counts as two Medium creatures. Packing up a tent takes half as long as assembling it.
The aura of a tent varies depending on how much magical energy the crystals have stored. A new tent, or one that has had the time for its crystals to drain, will have no magical aura. A tent recently exposed to an eldritch storm may project a variety of auras of varying strength.
