Theocracy of Eza

This theocracy is known for its progressive ideas and its contributions to the Northlands Cultures. With this area once being the Eza Republic but now changing to a theocracy, the only one in Rhydan history. It is also the birthplace of the modern language of Lyn, which the people of the Northern Lands use, though with different dialects.

Culture

The Ezan Irvea, known as the ice and fire instrument, is one of the various instruments that the Ezan have created. Because of the importance on knowledge and the arts, the Ezan people are known for their many scholars and artists.   Living in a Theocracy/Republic hybrid government, the Ezan are a very independent people. With slavery outlawed, the only state in Rea to have such a law, all people work for a price and as such contribute to the economy of Eza. This allows the people of Eza to be one of the richest, when counting all peoples, of all the states of Rea. This allows for their very lavish lifestyle, which means that many of them spend their time working on academics or the arts.

Assets

The light armor of the Ezan soldiers makes them extremely suited for the environment of their home nations.

Although Ezan has one of the wealthiest per capita populations, they are also the highest taxed of all the nations of Rea. This is not without reason however. Having the lowest population of all its surrounding nations, even the Free City of Brevea, it spends heavily on specializing its military in the event of invasions, which the area is not unfamiliar with. They also use these high taxes to constantly update its infrastructure. Due to the fact they do not have free slave labor, the government must pay for all construction projects as well.

History

Before Eza

Ruins of a great Hinona city were found in the Eza forest, this is where the most of the ancient scripts come from.

During the time of the dual Kingdoms of Kin and Hinona, the dense Eza forest area was nothing more than easy land that the Hinona Kingdom added to its ever growing influence. This was until the discovery of an indigenous peoples who lived within the forest, named the Ezans. Due to their small numbers and spread, the Hinona Kingdom gathered many of the indigenous Eza and used them as slaves. Using their labor to begin to deforest the dense forests, using the raw materials to aid in their conquest of the Kin Kingdom. However, with the death of the last Hinona King, and the Alosia rebellion in the Kin Kingdom, the Eza people were left without a purpose, now brought together by people who had largely forgotten about them. From this was the foundations that built the Eza Republic, which lead innovation across Rea.

Eza Republic/Lynu

The Ezan during the "Knowledge Revolution" were really good at building their settlements into nature. Using the surrounds more as a framework rather than an obstacle.

With the separation into the seven nations of Rea, the Eza Republic was the oddball. With their seclusion from the rest of the nations, due to the thick forest and warmer temperatures not being ideal for most people in Rea, the Ezan people were able to thrive. Building their own form of government that gave more power to all people, with their slave history giving them the belief that all people should be created equal. Along with this, many Hinona scriptures and small Hinona settlements had been left as well for the Ezan people to take over. With all having equal access to knowledge in Eza, many people began to write and translate these scripts, which were written in the Hino language, to figure out their meanings. This "Language Explosion" led to the creation of the Lynu language, which was one of these many languages. Not only was the mysterious scribe who wrote in this language very accurate in figuring out what the scripts said, he also had written it in a language that was much easier to read, and subsequently speak, than the Hino language itself.
With the quick rise of the Eza Republic, it quickly began to spread around the pincer bay area until it was the largest nation in Rea. During this time Eza was able to influence a number of other nations around Rea, and even influencing early Rheyans from Avara, gifting them knowledge that they used to create the first Flares and other Remnant infused objects. This however did not last long, as the new Alosian and Ler Rea Empires were quick to sandwich the Republic back into its corner of the map. As the Republic, usually very opposed to ideals from other nations, seeing them as primitive, their inevitable trading with these nations led to the collapse of this ideal, and with is the Republic.

Religion/Theocracy

Ralie Ylva, or "His Awoken Ralie II" as is her proper title, is the current Awoken and leader of Eza. At 63 is the current longest serving ruler of any of the seven nations of Rea, at 49 years, serving since her 14th birthday.

With the growth of so many other nations around them, and being secluded to their corner of the continent, the Ezans began to trade with their neighbors. This trading did not only include materials though, as ideas began to exchange as well. With the strongest of these ideas, the Hinona Korha religion, becoming commonplace among the Ezans. The religion, which had been lost to the Republic during their "Knowledge Revolution", rapidly began to infect every aspect of Ezan life. The religion, which exist in some aspect across Rhydar in many variants, has an Ezan variation as well. With the Republic giving up their executive power, gifting it to an individual known as the "Awoken". A prophesied individual in the Ezan variant of the Korha faith who is said to bring peace and connect the seven nations into one. This is the current form of government of the Ezan people, as the nation has changed almost completely into one focused on wisdom confined within the boundaries of their religion rather than the all encompassing knowledge that predated the Theocracy. Many of the libraries still exist that hold the ancient, knowledgeable, texts of the past. However, due to the hold the Ezan Korha has on its people many of these readings have been "disproven" by religious texts.

Demography and Population

Average Ezan, with their tanned features, contrasting the look of most people from Rea.

Though not being the largest or most populated nation in Rea, Eza holds some of the most fertile and resource rich lands. Most of the lands to the north of the nation are covered by a large cold forest that is largely uninhabited, this region is mostly used as a buffer zone for potential invaders. Most of Eza's population lives within the southern and eastern coast which host more of a tepid climate. The Ezans who live in this area have adapted to the warmer weather and have such grown intolerant of the cold, which is why they typically do not travel much further north than Brevea.

Religion

Once more into promoting free thinking ideas and academics and the arts, the theocratic ideas of the Ezan Korha branch religion has taking hold of big portions of the society and culture as a whole. While free thinking and free seeking of knowledge, one of the main principles of Eza, still exist, it is heavily manipulated. Older books and literatures that are some of the most forward thinking in all of Rhydar have been "debunked" by other studies that are more "Korha centric" to try and push this theocratic thinking. Of course there are many individuals who are still adhere to the old ideals of Eza and try to restore it back to its republic state.

Foreign Relations

Although there is no major conflicts between the seven nations of Rea, the seven are not exactly at "peace" with one another. Pockets of alliances exists between several of the nations, such as the Brevean-Ezan or "Small States" alliance, but no general peace treaty between all seven has been brought up.

Education

Eza, at least pre-theocracy, is by far the smartest of the seven nations. With their vast diversity of knowledge they are not known as the "State of Knowledge" for no reason.

All Ezans are forced by law to attend some form of schooling for at least the first 14 years of their life. After that it is up to the individual what they wish to pursue.

Once a republic controlled by an elected senate with complete and total executive control. With the shift in mind to a more theocratic nation, the senate gave its executive powers over to a single religious head known as "The Awoken". The senate of Eza still exists and passes laws, but only after going through the executive power of the Awoken.

Military Combat

Eza Naily

This style is said to be what inspired the Piay style of the Rheyan people in Avara.

The most common type of fighting style during the height of the nations time as a republic. This style incorporates the use of two swords, one long sword and one shorter, dagger-like, sword. The long sword is used for mostly attacks while the short sword, which as a whip attached to the end, is used defensively and as a countermeasure to disarm opponents.
