The Ruins of Citlalicue Clinic

The small clinic hasn't been open for nearly 50 years. It sits like any other house on the cliffs, but no one will enter again. The doors are beginning to rot, and the plants are overgrown, reclaiming some of the scorched stones. A new physician has thrived in town in its absence, the loss of Citlalicue's aid at least softened by her extensive notes.

Purpose / Function

Citlalicue's clinic was a well-known but generally uninteresting place of healing when it was running. The physician herself was talented, weaving together her magics and medical knowledge to save many who seemed beyond help. Within Skaia, it was fairly easy to get a recommendation for Citlalicue's clinic if one was exceptionally sick. Beyond the borders, she was known by medical colleagues. Truly desperate travelers might seek her out. For most, traveling across the countryside for healing was not plausible; either the local healer would save them or they would not, so knowing about a clinic far away was not useful.   In addition to treating patients, Citlalicue often took apprentices. Almost all of her pupils would describe her as a patient and kind teacher, although she was known to put her patients before her students, even at their detriment.

History

Citlalicue started treating patients in her clinic in the year 1131. At first the clinic was just attached to Citlalicue's home, but as she gained a reputation in Skaia, she needed to expand. Citlalicue moved out of her clinic and eventually expanded the clinic itself. The addition to the clinic is built from unmatching stone.   The middle history of the clinic is unremarkable.   In the year 1175, Citlalicue completed her work on the rituals for Soul Capture. She burned all notes on the endeavor immediately upon completion. The clinic did not accept patients for a week, and Citlalicue and her students were not seen that entire time. It is assumed that Citlalicue threatened her pupils into secrecy for their assistance on the project. At the end of the week, the clinic reopened as if nothing happened. The only evidence of anything off were the scorch marks on the walls.   Alas, a year later Citlalicue snapped. Her body was found among her pupils. Investigation suggested that Citlalicue had poisoned her apprentices before taking her own life. While the rest of her research was left intact, only one single note still exists on her greatest mistake .
