Thieves' cant is a mix of dialect, jargon, code, symbols, and hand gestures which the criminal underworld uses to communicate with each other without raising suspicion. Thieves' cant is most often used to hide messages in seemingly normal conversation as well as place warnings in certain areas. The term also encompasses a langeuage spoken among the traders of forbidden things.
