Personal history

A small tribe of shark-men observes the practice of child thievery common of goblinfolk. Every so often (when so designated by a religious event and ceremony) one of the village shamans will select a newly born child from the populous and designate that child as the selected changeling. The shaman then casts a spell (curse) which alters the appearance of the child to resemble a merrow. The shaman then steals away and whisks a child from the crib of a merrow home, replacing it with the nearly identical changeling. The stolen merrow child is then raised by whomever will take it as a shark-man.

It was in this way that ryuet was brought up.
