Gnome

A cheerful, hardworking and earnest race of small folk, Gnomes are the second most populous race on Galoria. Originally a subterranean race in ancient times, gnomes are spread far and wide from the Forest Gnomes of western Aldheim to the City Gnomes who make up much of the cities' populations. Gnomes are most famous for their cunning and ingenuity, and have been crediting with kick-starting revolutions in alchemy, magic and industry. Their cultures stretch back for thousands of years, and some scholars theorise that Gnomes founded the first civilisations on the planet.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Gnomes are a humanoid race of pointed ears and small stature, between 3-4 feet tall. They're slightly shorter on average than Halflings, but lighter in build with quicker reflexes. Their large facial features give them a slight neotenous appearance, though they age as normal.

Growth Rate & Stages

Gnome lifespans range from 350 to 500 years, making them one of the longer-lived humanoid races. They mature at the same rate humans do, and most are expected to settle down into an adult life by around age 40.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Gnomes have low-light vision, a trait carried over from their days underground. Their sharp natural intellect make them naturally predisposed towards magic. This innate understanding of magic allows them to shrug off a wide range of magical effects.
