To counteract growing political tension following the abdication of Prince Yunzhe, and following the warnings of various oracles, the leaders of the Four Nations agreed to a peace treaty and betrothal; one prince from each of their nations would wed the prince of another, creating powerful political bonds and ensuring peace for years to come.
