Before the beginning of time, Those Who were Born sought to overthrow The Ones who Were and take their Power for themselves. They enslaved all who got in their way and turned them as war machines against The Ones who Were. The war is thought to have lasted nearly a century, ending in The Burning of the Skies when The One Who Became Air sacrificed herself to ensure the destruction of Those Who were Born at the hands of The Warrior. Because of The War, the air was poisoned, the ground and sea was filled with ash, and the world was rendered barren and dead. Nearly all of The Power that Those Who were Born sought was destroyed, lost, or hidden away. It was only because of The Ones that Were that the lands became habitable once more, and man was once again able to flourish. (Note: The Capitalization of Pronouns is prevalent here due to the nature of the works they are taken from, which are thought to be holy books written by The Ancestors of Man, and the events described are referenced frequently throughout their works.)
