The Curse of Misgrowth

"A Mar 'ought to know about the dangers of their regeneration. Many young bloods often mistake their quick healing for immortality on the battlefield, and aye it does make them harder to bring down, but an old Mar knows that the ancients do not reward recklessness, nor arrogance.
It's best if you avoid losing those limbs or taking too many deep cuts. Otherwise, you might find yourself with some limbs that don't work quite right or worse, one that taint's your whole body."

-Orah Turah, Marren War Mother on discussing the dangers of Misgrowth.

Marren culture view's the curse similarly to aging. Due to their proclivity towards violence, many Marren warriors often die of the Curse, if they are lucky enough to reach old age. Thus, there is no shame in dying to the curse, many tribes view it as a badge of honor, a tragic symbol of a warrior's sacrifice to their people.
Despite, such honorific's many Marren warriors are terrifed of the curse. Afterall, no one want's to die of disease.
