Furukawa

Furukawa borders the Feywilds to its east, and exists as the only place where the people of Shinjuku practice animal husbandry. Here horses are raised and trained to support their cavalry troops. Despite this fact, this city is the least infrastructurally defended in the region and permits some tourism. The Shogun of Furukawa, Tomyo, also became the Guild Leader of the Abjuration Guild, which is centered in Reole. This is the reason why they have the most positive outlook on outside visitors, as often he needs to conduct Guild business at home. Its location was selected, and the entire city radiates out from, the only cherry blossom tree that can be found in the south, which is revered as deeply culturally significant. This tree epitomizes their beliefs as it was once-dead and now flourishes in a climate that is clearly unsuited to support it. The inhabitants of this city would sooner let every building and horse burn before any harm came to the central tree, and in fact they are rumoured to have agreements with the Feywilds to ensure that exact thing should any harm befall their city.

Defences

Home to all of the horses for their cavalry this city also houses anyone trained to or in training to become one of the cavalry class of soldiers. These horses are housed in a rough paddock.   A short stone wall surrounds the entire town and has a North and South gate, however these are mostly just designated entry points as the wall does not offer much in the way of protection from intruders.   The majority of the dissuasion against malicious outsiders and troublemakers is the fact that Furukawa is also home to certain monastic traditions. While these monks are not conscripted in the same way as your average soldier, they will act swiftly to defend their home and way of life.

Industry & Trade

Furukawa is completely dependent on the capital with zero international exports. They do not produce enough to be self sufficient. All food production is exported back to the capital in exchange for their staple of finished products.

Assets

The central asset of this city is their Cherry Tree. A once dead and resurrected tree that defies environmental constraints by flourishing. There is also a large library and one of the temples to the Way of the Four Elements.   In a radial pattern this is surrounded by the Market District, Residential District and then the outermost Militarized District. The horses are housed a slight distance away from here to give enough room for grazing and training without getting spooked by the day to day operations of the town.

Guilds and Factions

Since the Shogun of this region also doubles as the Abjuration Guild Leader, the Abjuration Guild has a well-established chapter in town. The Guild Leader conducts most of their business from Furukawa, which leads to a lot of external traffic both from Reole, and from the bordering Feywilds. The Shinjuku presence in town is still quite overwhelming as they remain suspicious of outsiders, but they remain the most tolerant of visitors to this region. Included in this are the specific monastic sects Way of the Four Elements; Way of the Open Fist; and Way of the Drunken Brawler which have come into the region before Reole's involvement but are not yet accepted as natives.

Tourism

From the gates to anywhere in the city there can be found groups of tourists doing tours of the history and culture of the South. These tours tend to glorify the South a focus on the Cherry Blossom Tree, the Monastic Temples and the more "showy" portions of the city - while avoiding residential districts. One could bring forward the critique that the information provided on these tours in akin to propaganda, but few visitors have truly been able to penetrate Shinjuku in order to verify these claims.
