Coileáini Swamp
The Coileáini swamp is part of the untamed wilds that have yet to be subjugated by the kingdom of Neptis. This swamp is home to the most nasty and toxic flora and fauna Neptis could ask for, and seemingly, a pretty hostile group of folk as well. This swamp provides Neptis with some tactical cover against the northern raiders.
Geography
This swamp is what is left of a much larger marshland that has since been drained and used as land for the kingdom of Neptis. The swamp is dotted with dripping trees with black trunks, rotting undergrowth, a plethora of algae filled water and dead trees. There is one solid connected path that seems to lead into it, and is well trodden. This path is kept up and guarded by the druids of Divos that dwell within.
Fauna & Flora
Most of the lands inhabitants are made up by poisonous and toxic animals, some of which are able to kill a person just by mere touch. Many of the fauna are alligators, large boar, bloodseekers, Mantis, Centipede, Stag beetles, and it is even said that a fabled Cauthooj lives within these swamplands. Though they are not fauna, there are also a plethora of swamp ooze that have taken to living within the waters, catching and paralyzing unfortunate prey that find themselves in their reach.
History
In the early ages of Neptis, this swamp held the people of Divos, a small encampment of sages and druids that dwell within nature. The original people's of this swamp lived in the vast Coileáini forests but were driven north by the expansion of the kingdom, cutting them off from their people. These people were a peaceful folk, and would often offer help to those in need. At first the druids were able to have simple passage between their forests and swamp, but as of late it has been harder to find safe passage. Many folk have stopped their travels entirely due to the kingdom of Neptis letting their trade caravans "disappear" with the druid sent. This is a common fate for many of the druids seeking passage between the two realms.
