Tin

Tin is one of the seven primary metals metals in alchemy. The metal is used in a variety of different ways in the practices of chemistry and alchemy, and for numerous purposes. In alchemy, tin is boiled to produce potions of great power, and used as an ingredient in other potions and Potion of Life.   Professional alchemists typically have a modest collection of tools necessary for the practice of alchemy due to the expense of many of the materials and ingredients; however every alchemist has some form of oven or furnace for the boiling of metals. Many state alchemy labs have state of the art furnaces designed specifically for the seven fundamental elements. These ovens are capable of producing heat at precise temperatures for specific potions that can be adjusted accordingly. Among professional, academic, and amateur alchemists alike a legend of dozens of enormous furnaces in the Obsequious Tower that never run dry of their metals.   More clandestine alchemists have occasionally experimented with the more combustible properties of the metal. When shaved into flakes or ground into a powder tin is particularly flammable and can create a dust explosion. This has led to some unfortunate ends to more than a few alchemists, their interests in tin notwithstanding. As a result of some of these experiments several variants of combustible potions have been discovered, as well as a renewed interest in producing a fuel source more efficient than coal.
