Curious Ruins Language in Renúdetla | World Anvil

Curious Ruins

Curious ruins of unknown origin are found almost all over Renúdetla. The ruins are widely believed to be a script of The Order of Azhmar, however that has never been confirmed. If the Wizards are the authors of these writings, they would have had to have been using this system since before the construction of the Obsequious Tower at the dawn of the second age.   Some few symbols have been identified and have been adopted and used by travelers since; to signal good hospitality, a dry camp for the weary traveler, or dangerous roads. However much of the written language is still a mystery. Etched into stone, or rarely in wood, without any sign of wear to tell of its age; often at locations that appear benign or even trivial. With that being said, one of the more well known examples of ruins at sites of power is at the peak of Mt. Horen. The ruins here certainly seem to bear some significance; but whatever secrets those letters hold, they have kept them since before the founding of Ünterhall.

Geographical Distribution

The ruins are found in almost every geographical region of Renúdetla. There also appear to be no greater abundance of the writing in one region over another. For instance despite the Obsequious Tower's location in the The Artwinian Empire, there are no more ruins in the Shoan Province than there are in the Bjargan Mountains or even The Eastern Grasslands.
