Skull of Sartine

An intelligent artifact wizard implement that takes the form of a black crystal skull. It is the skull of Sartine, archpriestess of the Raven Queen from the Forgotten Realms. Her consciousness still inhabits the item and she is capable of communicating telepathically. She is very emphatic about her desire to see Orcus and his minions harmed.
The skull acts as a wizard's casting implement, giving a boost to casting level, a penalty to opposing saves, and possibly some bonus damage.

History

The Skull of Sartine was found by Ruby and her party in an old, underground temple of the Raven Queen near Vaester when they were visiting the Forgotten Realms in September of 23 ARL. She had been alone there in the ruins of the temple for... a long time. She had apparently become an artifact willingly, but events had since conspired to leave her abandoned, and she had no capacity to spellcast or move on her own.
