Racial or Monster Archetype/Template

Taking levels as a race/monster/template has varied effects. It is a catch all for additional abilities based on advancement of your species as well as templates or alterations to you as a being. These can cover things like Age Categories for Dragons, Undead traits, innate spell-like abilities, 'Dire' animal mutations, etc. Generally, racial levels do not count as a full-fledged class. They are a tool to balance weird stuff against other PC's levels. A character can remain "single" class and take racial levels if appropriate (yes for Dragons, not so much for Humans).
