2020/01/12: Indus Temple Exploration Report

General Summary

Terana, Knight, Pele, Dag, Shane, Marc   The party went looking for information on Pele's mom and located a temple area in a pocket realm in an undersea city on Indus. Terana volunteered to anchor the portal into the pocket realm while the rest of the party went inside.   The party got attacked by giant elephant statues at the entrance but managed to defeat them without losses. Inside the temple complex there were four temples (one towards each cardinal direction), a pond (in front of the east temple), some shrubs, a variety of colorful birds, a basilisk, and a large open area with a throne in front of the west temple. Inside the north temple, the party met a bird god (who is also a god of nobles) named Jeliah. They asked the party to find the source of the evil that is infecting the temple complex.   The north temple is the air temple (the temple of Jeliah), west is fire (temple of Agni), east is water, south is earth. Inside a difficult-to-access area of the fire temple, the party found a seven-bladed fire sword powering some sort of balance mechanism. After fixing the elemental balance, the party borrowed the sword.   The party tried to pray to Agni to ask if borrowing or taking the sword was okay. They discovered that his communication with and awareness of the temple was blocked by some demonic force. Shane had Sith relay the prayer. Upon realizing that his temple was underwater, infected, and being infiltrated by unbelievers, Agni started the self-destruct, with two minutes before the temple would explode.   On the party's accelerated escape, they had to stop to fight the agitated (surviving) temple guardians, consisting of about 24 fire tigers, a super-basilisk, a group of about 12 fire elementals in full plate armor, and a (corrupted?) avatar of Agni. The party had already killed the giant peacock at the air temple, and after they blocked the two giant water temple guardian statues with a wall of force, they decided to be elsewhere.   The battle lasted maybe 20 seconds. Marc, Dag, and Knight jumped past the guards and piled onto the avatar, with Knight decapitating him some 8 seconds in. Pele held off the basilisk until Dag stepped in and VERY THOROUGHLY broke its neck. Shane summoned a wild magic elemental that took the form of a 65-foot-deep mobile pit. The party's friendly giant cat killed the fire tigers with the aid of an ice storm from (Shane?). Marc stole the armor off one of the guardian elementals mid-combat, and Shane nearly killed it by dumping 54 gallons of water on it. Knight finished it off along with the other 8 surviving elementals.   Then Marc and Pele jumped into the pit elemental to retrieve treasure. Pele ended up forgetting the last several minutes and Marc's head was enlarged for several minutes, but they got a bunch of loot!   Now the party just has to hope Terana wins her fight with the avatar outside the temple complex's portal entrance without resorting to her own avatar form, because otherwise she won't be there to anchor the exit gate, and the party will have to get creative with their escape...
