The pacification of Chicago was an absolute must in order to bring the NEC-27 Outbreak under control. Operating during the same time as other campaigns in the area. Chicago was one of the worst mutated Cities in America, with fleshy growths growing all over the buildings and into the ground, it required multiple mass bombings and several Tactical Nukes to pacify.
  By 2039, General Sternn took over the management of this battle applying the same strategies he had used to win in Saint Louis and Indianapolis. The Same Super tanks were deployed but this time wider use of Mech Warfare was also deployed, these highly agile and deadly mechs were used to scale buildings and deploy high volumes of fire and damage against the Mutant Horrors contained within the city.
  Sternn also sterilised the local area by conducting a Mass Genocide Campaign of all Survivors and Wastelanders in the area to 'Starve the Infection of Biomass'. He also minimised the deployment of soldiers and instead preferred Robotic Combat Bots to fight the infected. This High Degree of Automation gave the Military the boost it needed to defeat the infection, that said, there was still a lot of casualties as Troopers still had to defend the perimeter and also keep other groups from entering the Combat zone.
  By 2048, Chicago was a ruined Radioactive Hellhole but the infection was thoroughly purged from the area. This made life in the Wastelands more possible as the number of Infected drastically dropped in America as a result.
