Basilisk
Introduction
Basilisks were invented by Great Russians in 2034 and were designed as a species of war but has since branched out into a fairly common Mutant type and has spread across the world and generally are impoverished and work pretty harsh jobs, normally stuck in the lower echoelons of society with few rising to power such as Manager Drash who works in the Hotoka Corporation as a manager of a Major Gene Therapy company. Their Lizard like features are mixed with Anthropomorphized features such as more human eyes, two legs and arms but also have the traits of a Basilisk Lizard, as for why a Basilisk lizard? No is quite to sure at this point.Social Treatment
Basilisks are seen as mentally inferior to most humans, designed to serve their war time needs and despite very clear evidence if Basiliks being incredibly intelligent and capable of their own inventions and innovations. This is rarely seen however because Basilisks almost never get schooling. Many Human Supremacists beat down on them. Some basilisks have to worry about lynching as people demonize them for their Lizard like look calling them "Scalies' and 'Furry traps'. More Progressive minds see them as Brothers and Sisters of Earth and hope to unite with them to fight off and destroy the world Tyrannical governments.How they Look
Since their original inception others types of Basilisks have been made with much less respect paid to their original look, leading basilisks to identify each other based on Generation, with older ones looking more like basilisks and new ones looking like some form of mutated Lizard person, there is very little discrimination between them though due to their extreme minority status in society and a lack of power to achieve.
Physical Traits
Basilisks are stronger then the average human with augmented blood systems that make them able to move in cold environments but still must wear protective equipment more then humans when facing more extreme temperatures. They can however survive in hotter enviroments much better then humans as well. They all have scales and are generally more bullet proof and have tough skeletons that let them carry more weight on their bodies with a height average of around 6'0-6'4 with naturally occurring strong muscles and wide frames. For some and probably perverted reason, female Basilisks in later generations have vestigial breasts that serve no other purpose then making Basilisk more appealing to their masters, a trait Basilisks often point to to exemplify their demeaning treatment by Human Overlords. Some have longer claws while others have long tongues, each Basilisk crafted differently to the other but uniquely each basilisk can reproduce with zero issues, normally birthing Hybrid children but lack the ability to reproduce with humans, likely a purposeful feature as their overlords probably don't want Human Lizard Hybrids. When it comes to blood later Generations of Basilisks have Red blood instead of the Lime Green the originals had. They also possess a level of rad resistance and some can even change their sex to make reproduction easier.What can they Eat?
Likely due to corporate reasons, Basilisks down the line were made compatible for all human food, likely done in the event that if basilisk ever grew to a sizable enough market demographic, companies can still benefit from their basic needs. This means basilisk can eat ,drink and take any drug, food or drink made for Humans with a added bonus. basilisks all have much stronger stomachs and efficient metabolisms allowing them to eat in greater qauntitie but if things really get bad, they can also eat really bad food such as rotten meat or drink irradiated water or really dirty water.Naming
Basilisks have of course made their own language and in so doing names, drawing inspiration from fictional depictions of Lizard people to help base their naming conventions however others adopt human names insisting they be treated as equals and not separate from humanity. Unisex names are common as many Basilisks can change their sex, but gendered names also exist.Fashion and Ideals
Basilisks who form a community appear to draw a lot of influence from North Africa and a bit of Central Africa, likely due to existing fictional influences from fantasy. This leads to Basilisks favouring a more 'ancient' look, such as ornate togas, head dresses, shoulder mantles and bracers but rarely have the means to actually do so. others simply wear the same clothes as other Humans, wearing t shirts, dresses ,and what not like anyone else with a couple of adjustments of course. Basilisks tend to favour clean scales, beautiful eyes and well cared for tails, even those without tails tend to like tails.Other Common Misconceptions
"They Eat people!"
As ridiculous as it may sound, people genuinely fear monger that Basilisks eat people and hunt for Human babies to eat, in truth Humans taste just as about as disgusting as it would to a human. Among Basilisks those who eat humans are treated with anger and suspicion as those basilisk tend find each other quite tasty as well. Meaning the majority of Basilisks do not eat humans if they can help it and even when they have to, it's because there is quite literally, no other choice. yes we taste THAT bad."They're More Aggressive"
While commonly used for the military and there was an attempt to make them more aggressive it was ultimate unsuccessful as the need for self preservation overruled all of that and made them just as prone to avoid conflict as quite literally any other living person or creature. Excessive aggression is just as negatively received as it is with humans yet we humans are still pretty aggressive and can fight wars just as coldly."They want to Destroy all Humans!"
While there are Genocidal Basilisk they aren't hard coded for human destruction, in truth they're just about as flawed as Humans in almost every single way so while there are bad apples there is good apples as well just like human s and keep in mind, humanity in this universe bathed the world in nuclear fire and still subduegate each other over skin colour, something Basilisk literally do not understand in the slightest."They're Apex Predators!"
Despite their amazing feats of strength and their resistances, their biology is just as flawed as a human and aren't this master predator who'll stalk you in he dead of night and strike when you're vulnerable. Their hunting ability is dependent on their education, some Basilisks are good at hunting others are useless at it, just like Humans.
