The Everstanding House of Jik'uul

The Everstanding House of Jik'uul rests, unassumingly, in the shadow of several large towers in Blokhopas, the capital city of Gimar. For a city that has denounced the Gods, new and old, it is a strange sight to behold. A low outer wall of fine marble surrounds the property, weathered from centuries of exposure and neglect. Though several bricks are missing and there is more than a handful of graffiti carved into its face, it stands as a testament to the craftsman who set the wall so long ago.    Inside the wall is a small perimeter of smooth stone surrounding a single, square building. No weeds grow amongst the cracks in the stone, though the locals have never witnessed anyone ever tending to the property. The building is of a style not replicated by any in the area, but that was not uncommon for the old temples of the world. Each followed the aesthetics of the God's they were built to serve. In this case, Jik'uul.   Jik'uul. Not a single record in Gimar bears mention of Jik'uul from before the Great Abdication. Nor anywhere else on the continent of Binya as far as Gimaral scholars have ever been able to find. Yet carved into the stone archway over the entrance to the domed structure is the name, Jik'uul. That is all that is known. Well, that, and to never enter the temple grounds.   Rumors drape over its delicate outer wall of marble like a perpetual shadow, but no one knows for sure what curse rests on the grounds. There must be a curse of course. By now it is well known that to damage the wall is to declare your death, and at this point only a drunkard or a very unlucky foreigner would ever be caught desecrating it. They are cared for, by the best mages and magics Gimar can offer, but in the end it is always the same.    From the notes of Apprentice Zwu-Gip, of her most high Arch Mage Ra, Second of her name.
The symptoms are always the same.   Initial Contact After damage to the outer wall the individual proceeds to fall ill, complaining of an upset stomach. Within hours, they are sweating profusely and begging for sometime to ease the pain. Nothing EVER eases the pain.   1 Day After By the end of one day of the initial incident the skin has begun to redden in the familiar pattern lengthwise across the body, running in a complete circuit dividing the front from back. The lines are always unbroken and perfect, stretching the skin does not revel unmarked skin underneath, nor does cutting the lines.   2 Days After The skin has ruptured along the above mentioned lines, in a series of pustules, boils, and oozing rash that defies treatment. Most patients by this point have been reduced to gibberish and soft moans for an end to the agony. Of interest is that even if death is granted at this point, the body still endures the final stage of...punishment?   3 Days After The skins falls off the target in two perfect sheaths.
