Exploration Checklist

  1. Roll 3d20 for weather. (Typical Taneroa temperature around 90 degrees with light rain in the afternoon for an hour or two)
  2. Travel prep: pacing, direction, prep spells and gear.
  3. Navigation roll (Wisdom/Survival).
  4. Random Encounters. Each player rolls 1d8
  5. Resolve encounter (if needed).
  6. Conclude travel day. Prep watches and forage if necessary.
  7. Random Encounters. Each player rolls 1d8.
  8. Resolve encounter (if needed).
  9. Resume resting.
  10. Return to step 1.
Keep in mind the Limits of Mortals Variants for lingering injuries and healing. Much of Taneroa beyond the wall is considered "insecure" or "hostile".   Pacing:
  • Fast pace: 5 hexes per day (-5 to passive perception and unable to stealth)
  • Normal pace: 4 hexes per day
  • Slow pace: 3 hexes per day (moving stealthily and can take time mapping adjacent hexes)
Giant Eagle travel: 800 feet in one minute, 48,000 feet in an hour. 9 miles an hour - 1.3 hexes
