Biaphomor

Biaphomor is a large town on Nephiglo which grew up around their Clay Pits after the discovery of Kiln Figures.

Industry & Trade

Since its founding, Biaphomor's economy revolves around Kiln Figures, which cannot be manufactured with materials from anywhere other than Biaphomor's Clay Pits. The production of them began as a niche market, with only a few individuals handcrafting the figures, to a major industrial operation involving multiple factories that run day and night, as the demand for Kiln Figures grew.   Kiln Figures, if broken, can be re-crafted from the same clay; however given the scarcity of the materials, they are expensive to purchase, and have to be re-crafted in the same kiln they were originally fired in. (Kiln Figures have serial numbers etched into their feet to identify which kiln this was.) Although for companies who purchase them, this works out more cost-effective than employees, it makes the manufacturing of Kiln Figures a very prosperous trade. As such, Biaphomor's wealth has one of the highest yearly increases of towns its size on the planet.

Tourism

Although Biaphomor is considered "off the beaten track", it does well with tourism because of its unique draw--the only place on Nephiglo that makes Kiln Figures, which even as they become widespread in global industries, are still something of a curiosity for many people. The town capitalises on this with a museum dedicated to the history of Kiln Figures; which includes an artisan workshop that holds demonstrations of the traditional methods of Kiln Figure production, and schedules regular lectures by scientists who study the geological makeup of the Clay Pits. Most of the factories also offer tours.
