Rank: Tu (Two)
First Rank - The Rising Star
Though the Churrians largely moved away from their military origins, generations of martial structure integrated with Churrian life are difficult to replace. As such, though many Churrians operate in largely civilian roles, every member of the Sanguar Institute is expected to hold and maintain a rank based on one's education and level of expertise. While there are nuances in this structure to denote further specialization or operational roles, every Sanguar Institute member is expected to operate underneath one of five different umbrella ranks.
The first of the Sanguar Institute's ranks and the lowest, the Tu is a civilian rank largely given to youth and uneducated newcomers. Also called Risers due to their notable symbol of a rising star, Tu are, at a certain age, expected to participate positively with their larger society as they pursue knowledge and skills that will allow them to achieve the rank of Tuu and thus considered established Sanguar Institute adults and members of their communities.
While considered the lowest of the five ranks, Tu are not considered lesser members of society or expendable help. However, they are expected to listen to those who are more educated and thus higher ranking for their own safety and the safety of those around them.
Qualifications
Being a Churrian citizen or member of the Sanguar Institute will automatically prescribe this rank to an individual. Considered the rank of ignorance, most who rank as Tu are youths learning the way of the world and newcomers who are still being educated or who haven't yet been assessed for their degree of knowledge and experience.
Requirements
Merely being born into or being accepted into the Sanguar Institute and subsequent Churrian society is all that is required to be given the rank of Tu.
Duties
The singular duty of a Tu is to participate positively in Churrian society and to learn. As such, Tu are expected to attend classes, take on internships with more knowledgeable ranks, and maintain basic infrastructure such as keeping social spaces clean or helping to prepare locations for specialized uses.
Responsibilities
As the primary responsibility of a Tu is to learn in preparation for future specialized roles, it is not expected that they will engage in difficult tasks or simple meaningless work for the sake of keeping them busy. As Churrian education is a flexible beast, Tu are encouraged to explore and find roles that interest and suit them.
Benefits
In return for maintaining basic infrastructure and keeping up with their education, Tu may earn a small stipend that allows them to pursue different interests including hobbies, entertainment, and special foods. Tu are also considered a protected class within the Sanguar Institute and receive priority in protection and evacuations if the situation should call for it.
Accoutrements & Equipment
Like all other Sanguar Institute members, every Tu is given a simple representation of their rank in the form of a basic insignia to pin onto their clothing. In this case, a golden half-star rising above a horizon line.
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
Once earned, this rank cannot be revoked. However, committing crimes or refusing duties may result in a Tu receiving less for their stipend or even being forced to attend special education classes to ensure that problematic behaviors do not hinder a youth's education.
