The Riddle-Master's College
About a day's ride north of the capital city of the Kaelic Empire, there is a most unusual college. It is known as the College of the The Riddle-Masters and it is virtually unique: unlike every other known place of higher learning, it teaches no school of magic. This is not to say there are no magicians there. One can find some few wizards, clerics, sorcerers, even the occasion druid. But inevitably those who practice the magical arts learned them before they arrived at the college. And those who truly embrace Riddle-Mastery often find that their previous skills in magic go stale, forgotten unless employed in the endless search for the answer to the next Riddle.
When Kael first founded his Imperial Capitol, he deliberately set it near to where the College stood. It is said he did this because he had previously been a student of the college in his youth, and wanted to maintain an easy access to his old masters. But he promised the college would remain forever independent of the imperial government, and down though the imperial dynasty known as the Scions of Kael this was always maintained. Most of the noble families of Erbain send their children to the College for their education, or employ RIddle-Masters as tutors. In no small part due to the influence this gives the college, even in recent years the College can maintain itself free from... overt Imperial oversight.
