Woodsedge is located on the North-Eastern edge of the Darkwood. The seemingly supernatural fertility of the land is a blessing and a curse. Food and wood are plenty and the Darkwood naturally produces potent magical plants, available for those brave enough to forage for them. Civilized folk keep to the outer edges of the Darkwood for it is filled with a great many dangers and it is a constant effort to keep the woods from claiming the town.

Common Folk
The common folk of Woodsedge are farmers and gatherers. While food and natural reseources are plentiful the common folk are kept quite poor. Many live at subsistence levels with the bulk of their produce being levied to pay for protection from the encroach of the Darkwood and the denizens within.
Merchants
There is much on offer for a merchant of Woodsedge, cheap timber, magic-infused mushrooms and herbs, meat and skins from game and even the sporadic (and sometimes dangerous) trade with the reclusive Darkwood Elves. Taxes on trade in the town are nothing short of extortionate, said to pay for the admittedly necessary protection needed for business to be safe. Some shrewd merchants are able to thrive here, while others fare only a little better than the common folk they serve.
Aristocracy
Outside of the Lord and his family few members of the gentry live in Woodedge, and those that do may not do so by choice. Whether led here to escape social scandal or for some unkown opportunity they keep to themselves.
Races
Primarily Human & Halfling.
A small number of Errant Darkwood Elves & other races.

The Woodcutters
The Woodcutters of Woodsedge are of vital importance to it's survival. Rather than simply felling trees for timber they function more as a bulwark against the pervasive encroach of the Darkwood.
Operating out of the Woodcutters Lodge they arm themselves with Scythes and Axes to attend their daily patrols to cut back plants and trees that can seemingly spring up overnight. Some of the Woodcutters stand watch as the others work, armed with bows or spears as the clearing efforts often attract angry wildlife and sometimes worse.
For their dangerous and vital work they are well equipped, well paid, well looked after by the town and it's Lord.
