High Priest of the Polecat, Domnuich's Guard
Physical Description
His true form is a combination of a polecat, otter, and a bearded seal.
In humanoid form, Rorschach appears as a young black man with silver hair, and numerous freckles and moles. His hair is kept long and either in a loose ponytail or in dreads when performing duties for Ludovic, though in his time off will often use other hairstyles. Rorschach also wears paint quite similar to his patron god himself, though with black over his inner eye.
He is quite slender and tall, like many omnia born during
The War of Black Ash, locked in a state reflecting the food scarcity of the period. On reforming his body, he will often be significantly skinnier than he appears ordinarily.
Similarly to his patron, Rorschach has a full back tattoo in
Divine Runic depicting a rune to mean "The blood ferret empowers (my) claws", drawing power from Ludovic himself to enchance his combat prowess. Just the same as Ludovic, the tattoo is in a dark navy blue, a sacred color to the cult.
As is common with members of Ludovic's cult, he bleaches his hair to lighter silver, not quite reaching the desired white or cream as is known for the envoys of winter.
As high priest, Rorschach is permitted to use any and all of Ludovic's own power if need be, especially concerning his primary duties- Protection of Ludovic's heir,
Domhnuich.
His outfit is one that is considered standard for the polecat's priests, a long robe and loose top in Ludovic's colors. Rorschach in particular also dons a leather belt strung with polecat coins, a currency used almost exclusively by the cult. These are paid out to cult members and Ludovic's followers for their acts of service to their patron god, said to be able to buy anything once. It is part of his duties to give these coins out to the cult and followers.
When outside the temple, he wears one of Ludovic's own old coats.
Mental characteristics
Rorschach is a long time member of the polecat cult, having served as a priest under the Fallen Polecat,
Ludovic's parent, for many decades. He became high priest of the
Cult of Ludovic upon the ascension of the new polecat god and immediately began his duties in assisting him in gaining associations and power as a member of the pantheon. As high priest, his duties have been extended with the birth of Ludovic's heir, Domhnuich, and his protection falls squarely under Rorschach's hands.
His life's past is unknown, due to secrecy within the cult and their isolationism from other groups. Paired with the cult's superstition around true names, records of Rorschach's past are nearly impossible to find and likely may have been destroyed.
Exactly what education Rorschach has received is unknown, but he is a skilled diplomat, handling most delicate matters of the cult in Ludovic's stead.
Rorschach is known to be quite calm and to keep his emotions close to his chest without revealing what he is thinking or feeling unless necessary. This is a strict professionalism he wears at all times when on duty, especially when dealing with representatives from other cults, Ludovic's own followers, and the pantheon. Even with direct insult to him or his patron, he remains strictly within his own bounds of professionalism, though will occasionally make subtle cutting remarks.
History
Rorschach served as a priest of Ludovic's predecessor, and on his ascension, was named his high priest due to consistent dedication to serving Ludovic's family line. Rorschach's dedication and stalwart defense of him through the years has led many to believe, at least until the birth of Ludovic's heir, that it was highly likely Rorschach himself would become the god's heir should something happen to him.
Nicknames & Petnames
Due to superstition, it was actually Ludovic who gave Rorschach his name, based on the coat of his true form as a joke. Following the tradition that true names have power and to only use nicknames and aliases, the name stuck, and is one Rorschach continues to use. Only Ludovic himself knows his true name.
History
As High Priest, Rorschach's primary duty is seeing to the defense and protection of Domhnuich, Ludovic's son and heir. The boy is almost always in his presence when he is not with his divine parents, Ludovic and Mą’ii, the Coyote God, with his well being and day to day care falling to the priest.
He would put his life on the line to protect him, and spill his own blood to ensure he stays safe.
