Arcane Magazine
The arcane magazine was a leather bag which produced ammunition for the various arcane firearms in use by the paladins of The Rooks organization. Each arcane magazine was magically tied to the weapon when both the weapon and bag were created. The ammunition would only work for that weapon.
Each day, the arcane magazine would magically produce 20 rounds of ammunition to a maximum of 20 rounds. Throughout the day, if the weapon was used and ammunition was depleted, a short rest by the weapon owner concentrating on the bag could produce an additional five rounds (again to a maximum of 20 rounds).
Loss of the arcane magazine required the sacrifice of a long rest to meditate with the weapon and praying for the protection of those under your charge during that time. At the end of the rest, the weary owner of the weapon would have a new bag returned to them, with a fresh supply of ammunition.
Keeping the Faith
Each weapon was a mark of a tenet of faith, requiring the journeyman knight to continue on their path as a paladin to the point of taking their oath. If they trained in disciplines of other professions (cleric duties, wizardly studies, etc.) the short rest replenishment would cease functioning, and the long rest replenishment was reduced by half. After a sufficient walk in the faith, the paladin would be required to return to the Rooks to take their Oath. Delays will result in in arcane magazine producing one less round per long per week of delay. Without taking their oath at the proper time, after 20 weeks, the magazine would cease producing ammunition entirely and turn into a normal leather bag, devoid of magic.
