Exius "The Father of Grezaghar" Myth in Grezaghar - The Realm of Adventure | World Anvil

Exius "The Father of Grezaghar"

It is commonly known throughout the realms that the 3 Goddesses created unique creatures to assist them in discovering the answers they needed. Some believe that these creatures are just avatars of the Goddess while others think something else. After the Creation of Life in 800 AV the Goddesses decided that the races needed someone to teach them skills and lessons, they would need to survive.

Summary

The Goddesses decided to create a human who was well versed in arcana and intelligence. The Goddess of Light named the human Exius. Exius sole purpose was to teach the creation races about the Goddesses and assist them in learning about the bond between life and magic.     Legends say that during one moonless night each moon created a pillar of light so bright that is filled the night and then landed in the realm. The exact location of the impact of the lights is believed to be on a tiny island that is off the coast of Sidfar. Today this island is known as the Serenity Enclave.     Exius lived with the various races of Grezaghar for two years so he could gain a better understanding and discover traits from each one of the special races. Then he was called to the throne of the Goddess of Light on the moon Zuhiri where he told the Goddesses of his time with the creation races.   Upon returning to Grezaghar, Exius was tasked to build a place where all of the known knowledge in the realm could be collected and used by everyone. This place would later be known as the Serenity Enclave.     After the framework of the enclave was designed and the building started, Exius decided that it would be best that the Enclave is under the leadership of a Council of Mages. Upon determining this, he went on a yearlong expedition that took him to every part of the realm.     During his travels, Exius, collected various flora, animals and tribal knowledge from the creatures and races he encountered. He compiled all this information in a collection of manuals that are currently on display at Serenity Enclave. Access to these manuals is limited to specific individuals and the Council of Mages.     While on his expedition Exius taught every intelligent race, he encountered the importance of time and how to measure it with an almanac. The calendar which is known today as the Alamac of Exius is considered the starting point of the Age of Awareness.     Near the end of his travels, Exius met a human woman named Fyrae. They both fell deeply in love, and she even traveled with him for a time until she discovered that she was with child. On a rare full moon night, Fyrae gave birth to a boy. Exius named the little boy Artemis.     Even though Exius love for Fyrae was strong, his first love was exploring Grezaghar. Shortly after Artemis birth, Exius became plagued by dreams of elves living underwater and special portal. Thinking this was a sign from the Goddesses Exius decided to embark on one last expedition to the ocean to discover the source of his dreams.   Leaving Fyrae and Artemis, he traveled east, and after searching for many weeks, he discovered a city at the bottom of the ocean. The inhabitants were the Sea Elves that he had dreamed about so many times.     The Sea Elves greeted the expedition cautiously with open arms. Exius decided to send the expedition back and stayed with the sea elves for about a month so he could learn from them. As time marched on the feeling of loneliness filled his heart because he missed his wife and son, so he decided to return to the arms of his love.   On the night before Exius was to return home the city was attacked and destroyed by a Leviathan. After the attack, Exius was never seen or heard from again and is feared dead.     Many Sea Elves believe that the reason their city was attacked is because of the friendship with the land walker. Till this day Sea Elves do not trust or interact with any other surface dweller. The Sea Elves that do live among the landwalkers was exiled from their city as punishment of a crime.
