Atticus
Lord of the eternal Forge
Atticus is the disgraced god of industry and labour, exiled from Mercuria by the other gods and cast out into Avernus where he now resides as a Demonic husk of his former self. In life Atticus was the most skilled blacksmith in all of Winval, forger of both the sword used to house Bane's mortal soul, and the sword Torm used to slay him. Upon his death he ascended to godhood as the blacksmith of Mercuria, forging the Warhammer gavel Tyr wields and the chariot Torm rides through the streets.
Following the industrial revolution of Laerakond in the North, Atticus' power grew exponentially and soon his might rivalled that of even Torm as his worship and influence expanded. Many members of Winval and it's clergy claim that this new found power corrupted Atticus and soon he was over come with greed, profiting from the exploit of workers and carving into the world Oasis had built.
Many of the people of Laerakond and current followers of Atticus hoewever believe that the other gods feared Atticus's new found status and preferred him as a subservient worker, fearing that he would use this new power to strike back at them for forcing him to work all those centuries. Regardless of what rational motivated it, in the year 1760 ASO Atticus was cast out by his fellow deities and was instead bound to Avernus where he now resides as a Demon Lord.
Holy Books & Codes
"The Earth provides all we need and this extends to below it's surface. Hard work is rewarded with skill and pieces of immense power. Atticus blesses those who refine their art with the ability to craft beautiful pieces of art and powerful weapons of war. Strength and integrity comes from pride and determination. Go forth into the world and continue the ancient virtues of resilience, hard work, taking pride in your craft to respect and honour our history as a society. Praise Atticus' name as the father of tools which shaped our world. A soldier is nothing without his sword just as a king is nothing without a crown, as is the strength of a craftsman."
Tenets of Faith
Followers of Atticus believe that greatness can only be achieved through hard work and determination, and that it is the duty of workers to maintain these ancient traditions in order to respect our history and ensure we can advance as a society, for how can we move forward if we don't remember where we have come from. It is important to take pride in your work and find enjoyment in the craft in order to drive and motivate you to continue the work. Even the Gods themselves would not be where they are had it not been for the work of Atticus and this involvement must not be ignored.
Physical Description
Body Features
Once a large burly man with a golden beard of molten metal, Avernus has twisted the physical form of Atticus into a lumbering monster. His skin is dark and ashy, burnt by the eternal flames. His beard now a roaring hearth of flames in itself. His ankles and wrists are manacled, binding him to his new infernal prison and preventing him from re-entering Mercuria.
