The Blistercoils

Demographics

Those who live in The Blistercoils are either students in low-rent tenements near their university or professionals whose laboratories and workshops double as their homes. Some wealthier denizens maintain labs and shops as well, but they do not live in the neighborhood.

Defences

Some wealthier researchers hire guards for their labs, but most citizens rely on Boros soldiers and Azorius arrestors for protection.

Industry & Trade

Most who live in the Blistercoils perform experiments at the behest of a patron. Some sell their crafts or inventions from their workshops, making it one of the best areas to purchase magical technology and gear.

Infrastructure

The Blistercoils are defined by the massive city works structure of the same name: gigantic waterwheels built and operated by the Izzet League. They generate magical energy to power public works, Simic laboratories, and Izzet workshops. Show Spoiler
The coils actually generate far more energy than the city uses. The excess is stored in underground batteries that could explode at any moment.

Guilds and Factions

The Izzet League and Simic Combine have the most sway in the area, with the Orzhov Syndicate and their business interests coming in third.

History

The neighborhood began as a temporary village for the workers constructing the Blistercoils. Students moved in next, then Izzet alchemists as the Boros and Azorius drove them out of more civil areas. Finally, those few Simic who wanted more interaction with society moved just outside of Zonot 7.

Architecture

The houses here are plain and utilitarian. The more affluent areas contain multi-story houses, community gardens, and public parks.
