Sunsword

Sergei von Zarovich's old blade has gone through quite a transformation over the centuries. Originally a purely symbolic mark of his position, when Barovia entered into the Mists the symbolic power became quite literal. Dimly aware as "Uncle" Strahd attempted to destroy the blade, it was jolted into full consciousness when the crystal that formed its cutting edge was shattered. Instinctively, it flared its holy energy into a mimicry of a blade, causing the vampire to fling the weapon as far from him as possible. Eventually, an adventurer found it before eventually falling in battle, leaving the blade to lay until another found it and so on. By the year 713 BC, Fiona Wachter had it locked away in a room until it was given to the Party.

Significance

As the old sword of the Most High Priest of Andral, it holds a great deal of holy power and is a weapon of considerable power.
