Order of the Silver Dragon
The Order of the Silver Dragon is a holy society of knights whose job is to protect the valley of Barovia. Almost destroyed after the purge, the Order is in a constant state of rebuilding itself. Count Strahd von Zarovich’s hates and respects the Order for the many battles during the purge and witnessed their courage firsthand during battle.
The Order initially formed at the onslaught of the Great Purge, but its founder is shrouded in mystery. The "Commander" of the Order was a Silver Dragon that lived among the inhabitants of Barovia disguised as a garlic farmer. During the first days of the conflict, the dragon revealed itself and is credited for destroying the initial 2 waves of the purge.
After the initial shock of losing so many soldiers, Count Strahd redoubled his efforts, and in the end, the countryside was drenched in the blood of the fallen. After the Purge, Count Stradh had his troops search the land for anything that had to do with the Order and destroy it. There are currently no known writings, paintings, or buildings from the Order intact.
After the death of the Commander, it is rumored that a group of 6 Paladins survived. Within the group, it is said that an offspring from the Commander is among them.
