Physical Description-   Master Becket is a very handsome man, with long dark hair pulled up behind his head, striking deep blue eyes and a knowing smile that can quickly turn to a bone chilling scowl when disappointed. He is usually dressed in a custom fit dark red shoulder cloak draped over his shoulder, a metallic chest plate with an arcane glyph of protection and black riding boots. He has an ornate rapier at his side.   Agenda and History-   He is the Huntmaster of the Mages of Cintras . His job has been to hunt down rogue mages and other dangerous magic users and bring them back to the Citadel to face justice. This has also expanded to include hunting sorcerers, who the mages are extremely interested in discovering how they are so in tune with their magics.   He also has a personal conviction that the Talons are dangerous and need to be destroyed, unhappy with his colleagues decisions to simply play politics and manipulate nations to eventually do it for them. He wants to destroy the Talons and any who would protect them, as well as assert the dominance of the Cintras Mages power on the continent. This way of thinking is closely followed by his own conclusion that the current arch mages are so docile and complacent to project the true might of Cintras, and thus he should be the one leading them to glory. Which of course, he has been amassing power and gathering followers to do just that.   On a personal level, he is having an affair with another of the order, master Cedrica, a female halfing suffering from a curse.   Fighting Strategy-   Will let minions take hits for him, but unlike most mages he prefers melee combat. Starts with Haste and bladesong cast. Once he is bloodied (half HP) will drop haste in favor for Vecna's Razor. If looking like he will lose a fight, he will cast time stop to deal a devastating blow to the most perceived threat. If that doesn't turn things in his favor, he will teleport away, or attempt to negotiate to survive but will always be looking for a chance to turn and win.   Abilities-
  • Damage Resistances damage from spells- non magical bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing (from stoneskin)
  • Passive Perception- 12
  • Magical Redirection- As a reaction, when targeted by a hostile spell he can make an arcana check against the Spell DC of the magic user. On success, the spell is redirected back at the caster. He is able to use this ability 3 times per short rest.
Actions
  • Extra Attack- can attack twice per turn. In addition, while blade song is active can replace an attack with a cantrip. Can attack a third time if hasted.
  • Rapier- +11 to hit, 3d8+5 piercing damage.
  • Vecna's Razor (spell)- a spectral summoned blade. +11 to hit, 5d8 +5 necrotic damage. Can sacrifice up to 5 hit dice (5d6) and add to damage, only once per day.
  • Retributive Strike: Can use an action to break his sword over his knee or against a solid surface, performing a retributive strike. The sword is destroyed and releases its remaining magic in an explosion that expands to fill a 30-foot-radius sphere centered on it.   Becket has a 50 percent chance to instantly travel to a random plane of existence, avoiding the explosion. If he fails to avoid the effect, he takes 6d12 force damage.  Every other creature in the area must make a DC 17 Dexterity saving throw, taking 5d12 force damage, -1d12 for each square away from the blast. 
Legendary Actions   Becket can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature's turn. Becket regains spent legendary actions at the start of his next turn.
  • Legendary Resistance- 3 times per day, when Becket fails a saving throw, he can choose to succeed instead.
  • Rapier Strike (1 action)- Can make 1 melee attack with advantage.
  • Skilled Parrie (1 action)- when a melee attack would normally hit, he can choose for it to miss instead.
  • Spell (2 action)- Can cast a spell from his list.
Spells-   Spell Attack is +10 to hit, and Spell Save DC is 20.
  • At will- disguise self, invisibility, Shocking Grasp (3d8, advantage on armored targets), magic missile (1d4+2, 4 attacks)
  • 5 times per day- Counter Spell (5th level), Fly (Con), Haste (Con), detect thoughts, misty step, minor image (Con), Hold Person (Con, up to 3 people), Blink, shield (reaction), absorb elements
  • 4 times per day- banishment, wall of fire (Con), wall of force (Con), Cone of Cold (AOE, 8d8 cold)
  • 2 times per day- teleport, Vecna's Razor (Con), force cage
  • 1 per day- Disintegrate (9th level)- 20d6+50 necrotic damage
