Plains of Hightop
These open, sprawling plains and highlands separate the massive trade city of Kingsport from the far reaches of the Southern Vale, and are almost exclusively home to the Halflings of Raslun, the nomadic peoples and tribes of the plains and Stinging Sands, and various unaligned villages.
Geography
Rolling hills and open plains make up the majority of Hightop, and its true expanse is only revealed when looking out from the lower peaks of Raslun's Spine.
Fauna & Flora
While most fauna of the plains is docile or skittish at best, savage creatures known as bulettes roam the plains, searching voraciously for food. Staking claim to a territory nearly ten miles in radius, this armored subterranean creature makes use of its ability to dig and tunnel underground in order to surprise prey from below; not to mention their taste for Halfling flesh.
The flora of Hightop is varied enough; with bundles of leafy green herbs such as Stone Mint and mushrooms like False Earthstar growing closer to the outskirts of forests, and fast growing plants such as Yarrow and Blackroot can survive the sometimes drought ridden highlands, making up the base of almost all plants within the plains.
Natural Resources
The plains and rolling hills of Hightop bear surface mines, and with natural central access to all surrounding areas, is a common trade route for merchants and travelers of all manner.
