Tales of the Gods
In the beginning, there was one, Nakos, a God of Creation and Knowledge. He surrounded himself with many of his own creations yet despite this a great loneliness slowly grew within him. Craving the touch of another he divided his heart into two and placed it into a still body of his own creation giving it life. As it came to consciousness the Zaya Goddess of Life and Death was born. Nakos continued working on different creations varying from mythical objects to entire worlds while Zaya began to explore her own power. Soon she learned to control her powers and began to fill the worlds Nakos had created with life.
As time passed, Nakos and Zaya came to love and adore one another. This union eventually gave birth to five children. The oldest of them was Rasalas, Master of the Skies. He used the ethereal winds to stop the sun from falling out of the sky and smashing upon the land. Unlike his older brother, Styrmir, the second oldest, took to the seas bringing storms and freshwater to the lands earning the name, The Storm Bringer. Nisha, the middle child, took the night, spreading magic and the arts through the moonlight, receiving the name Goddess of Magic and Arts. Sephtis, the second youngest, found his pleasure tolling away in planes of the afterlife granting him the title of Death’s Companion. The youngest of five, Zinnia took to the woods, becoming the Guardian of the Woods protecting the plant and wildlife and from the ever-growing civilization.
As the years passed, the children found their places within the (), fights would often break out between the siblings. Rasalas and Styrmir, naturally opposed in their elements, would commonly fight over the grounds they shared. Through these battles, a child was created by the lashing storms of wind and water coming together. This sudden event caused great confusion, and the two gods shared responsibility to the child, therefore, lessening their ferocity in their battles for some time. This newborn child became known as Belial and as he grew, so did his taste for battle. Soon he became known as the Lord of Battle, who would dive into any fight he could. Through the raising of their new son Belial, love blossomed between Rasalas and Styrmir, and another child would be had. This child, Avila was soon named the Maiden of Devotion as she became known for her beauty and ability to cause love to stir in others.
Zinnia, while tending to her forests and the beasts within, found herself spending ample time with Sephtis, as creatures' lives passed from her care to his. Over time, this would blossom into attraction, and the two would eventually give birth to a pair of twins. The oldest of the twins was Semira, who shared her mother’s interest in nature but favoured the growth of the crops and grains, granting her the title of Goddess of Agriculture. The younger twin took to travelling the world, delivering messages and luck to those on the road earning him the name of Raziel the Lucky Traveller.
Nisha found solace in the darkness of the night as she looked for new ways to expand her magic. As she journeyed on this led her to cross into the afterlife where Sephtis laboured away performing his duties. A conflict brewed between Sephtis and Nisha as he urged her to not cross the line of life with her magic. Over the course of their arguments and strife, a strange passion began to form between them, and this led to a child being born sometime later, by the name of Dolion. At the birth of Dolion a fight broke out between Sephtis and Zinnia as he had cheated on her with Nisha. This fight brewed into a war between the gods, as Zinnia rallied the beasts and creatures she cared for to fight on her side. Nisha, in an attempt to save Dolion from Zinnia's lethal wrath, hid Dolion in the realms of the afterlife. As the war continued to escalate, Belial moved into the fray relishing the opportunity for battle. Before the war could consume the four deities [Zinnia, Sephtis, Nisha and Belial] the other deities join in the conflict to separate them.
While to a god the war that had occurred between the deities had been short hundreds of years had passed in the varying worlds. This war had caused destruction to some parts of the world to the point where it had become unlivable. As the effects of the war started to settled Belial started to show his bloodthirst for the battle. Ruthless in his thirst for battle the already tired gods stood in defence of unyielding want for blood. Finding no method to settle Belial’s desire for a battle they locked him away in the darker parts of the afterlife. It was after this Belial was called the Unyielding Tyrant instead of the Lord of Battle.
In fear of starting another war, Nisha and Sephtis kept Dolion in the realms of the afterlife for his own protection. Dolion found nothing wrong with it as he got to spend as much time as he wished with Sephtis who he had bonded with more. Soon he became a lover of the darkness and the night. It was through this love that he was called the Watchful Eye due to his habit of constantly looking into things to gain more insight into things.
As another result of the war, the land of the afterlife started to fill more with tormented and evil souls. The increased number of these souls forced Sephtis to create a different area for these souls. With the agreement with his mother, Zaya, he watched over the land of the tormented souls unaware that living there would slowly corrupt him. Now the corrupted Sephtis was prevented from ever leaving the area again.
After this things went back to normal with Zinnia not fully trusting her sister Nisha and blaming her for Sephtis’s fall. Both Sephtis and Belial faded into the background of the deities rarely mention for fear that it would give them more power to which they could use to influence others.
