High King Yorvik I
High King Yorvik Arngrimssen Odinskyn
A psuedo-historical high king who appears in ancient Aedrinarian myths and legends , Yorvik I was the third king of the First Kingdom of Aedrinar and would reign for 37 years. Like all the monarchs of the first kingdom, Yorvik's life is clouded in myth and legend, and it is dubious if they even existed at all. Regardless of their historicity, Yorvik is counted amongst all Aedrinaran chronologies of high kings and has several legendary sagas and mythological cycles associated with their reign.
A member of the fabled house of Odinskyn, Yorvik is either the grandson, grand-nephew, 1st cousin once removed or second cousin of the God Odin, related through their father and predecessor, Arngrim. Yorvik I is known for their role in defeating the Frustmadr and their ice warriors and for their death at the hands of House Yngling. Their son, High King Ulfgir I, would become a far more known and memorialized in their fabled blood feud with Yorvik's killers.
Yorvik is amongst the most remembered of the forgotten first kings alongside their son, Ulfgir and Idunn the Irreplaceable. Still considered an obscure monarch, time has led many to forget of the finer details of Yorvik's life outside of tall tales and popular legends. Whilst the majority of modern society will not recall much about this ancient king, and their existence and life of dubious truth, their legacy still leaves them as one of the official monarchs of Aedrinar.

Personal history
Early Life
Yorvik was born as the eldest son of Arngrim Odinskyn and Erfri Svalframsdottir. Little is known about Yorvik's life or character, but assumptions around his kingly nature are made based on the will of Arngrim. Arngrim would bestow the most fitting of his belongings to his 14 children - his ships the sailor, the salt to the best steward, the herd to the best farmer, and the legendary sword Tyrfing to the strongest, so it is assumed that Yorvik was the most noble and kingly of Arngrim's sons. Aedrinar at this time was not an elected monarchy as it is now, and there was no opposition to Yorvik being appointed high king upon his father's death indicating he was at least not thought of poorly.
Reign
Yorvik's reign is agreed to have started in 3162 of the mythic age. Aedrinar at this time was a decntralized and poorly connected realm with no roads of major works of infrastucture and only a few key settlements. LIke his father, Yorvik would assume tribute by touring the realm and solving issues for his subjects and would winter at his dwelling in Aesirgrad during colder months.
During one such winter, Yorvik was approached by the 12 survivors, whose clans and families were killed by the emergancy of the elemental Frustmadr and their ice warriors. Yorvik then rallied his house and warriors and sent his brothers, Jornir and Lyfrik to rally the rest of the kingdom. Yorvik then led the battle against the frost beings with the 12 Survivors, and in a storm known as the Ice Maiden's Revenge, Yorvik, Angaynir, the weilder of Tyrfing, and the Wintershields defeated the ice beings for good and sealed them in a volcanic tomb to never form again.
Outside of this event, little is known of Yorvik's reign other than it being 'stable' and 'fair.' Yorvik also married an unknown individual and had 2 children, a son named Ulfgir and a daughter named Argrijya, after his father Arngrim.
Death
Yorvik's youngest brother, Angaynir, would try to win the hands of Ingeborg Malmsdottir but was rejected by her. Ingeborg instead married Hjalmar Yngling. Infuriated, Angaynir asked all his brothers to join him and he would challenge Hjalmar to a fight, to prove he was worthy of Ingeborgs hand. The family would battle Hjalmar and his blood-brother, Odr the Brave, and despite outnumbering them the sons of Arngrim were all slain.
