High King Ulfgir I
High King Ulfgir Yorvikssen Odinskyn
The legendary and psuedohistorical High King of the First Kingdom of Aedrinar and last High King of House Odinskyn, Ulfgir I was the fourth monarch of the first king and the first of five high kings to be named Ulfgir. Amongst the most recalleed monarchs of the relatively obscure First Kingdom, Ulfgir was start the blood feud between his house and the Yngvilds in an attempt to avenge his father, High King Yorvik I. Ulfgir's death would end the dynastic monarchy of the Odinskyns, and they would begin the Aedrinaran tradition of the Jarlsmoot and began the tradition of elective monarchy amongst the Aedrinaran people.
Like all first monarch kings, Ulfgir's life is concealed largely in mystery. Their 15 year reign was marred by the blood feud between himself and the family of legendary hero and berserker Hjalmar Yngvild and their blood brother, Odr the Brave. Hjalmar and Ulfgir's fathers had slain each other in a duel - and Ulfgir saught revenge. This civil war saw the two powerful families battle across Aedrinar, destroying all that was within their way and hiring Jomsvikingr and other clans to attack each other. This war saw Ulfgir's own children die in battle alongside his wife and other members of his house.
Ulfgir's reign saw the majority of his family line extinguished and turmoil spread across his realm. Ultimately he would redeem himself in death, inviting the jarls and his mortal enemies, the Yngvilds, to Aesirgrad to descide a successor and have Angvjir Yngvild ritually kill him to end the blood feud.

Personal history
Early Life
Ulfgir was born as the eldest son to High King Yorvik I during the mythic age. His exact date of birth is unknown, but he was one of two children of the high king. Groomed to rule as the heir apparent, when Aedrinar had clear lines of succession and inheritance, Ulfgir was trained as a sailor, warrior, and governor. They likely accomponied their father on some of their tours, whilst being left to manage the family seat of Aesirgrad in other instances to learn to rule their home.
Ulfgir would also marry Rejya Vakkirsdottir of Aesirgrad and have two children, Yorvik and Valkir, the eldest being at least 14 by the time Ulfgir came to the throne. When his father and uncles journeyed to the duel between Angayir and Hjalmar, Ulfgir was left in rulership of Aesirgrad. A sailor from Ingeborgs Island would come to bare news of the kings death and that of all the sons of Angrim.
Blood Feud
Declared the new high king and forging a crown of whale bone stained by shark blood - Ulfgir declared a feud between his house and that of the house of Hjalmar. Seeking to avenge his father and uncles, Hjalmar gathered his forces and sailed for the Yngvild lands. He burned their village and murdered the father of Hjalmar, his 8 year old neice, and two of his siblings. Odr the Brave would rescue many of the family and rally the survivors and rode into the wilderness, vowing in turn a blood oath to defeat the house of Odinskyn.
This war is believed to be the first recorded blood feud, and would span for 15 years. Warriors of the Odinskyn, their allies, and the Yngvilds and their allies would raid, murder, and pillage across the kingdom. This war would also see the begining of the Jomsvikignr culture, as neutral parties signed on as mercenaries to earn their own glory and found their own houses or clans.
The war would see Aesirgrad attacked, the death of Ulfgir's wife and child, and the loss of other cousins of his. The Yngvilds faced similar losses, but the majority of their clan leadership would survive - lead by the newpher of Hjalmar, Angvild. In 3214, after 15 years of fighting, Ulfgir recieved a fatal but slow wound from Odr the Brave, but managed to send the famous berserker to Valhalla in kind.
Death and Jarlsmoot
Dying, Ulfgir returned to Aesirgrad. Determined to end the blood feud that had destroyed much of the kingdom, and to determine the sucession as there was no clear heir - Ulfgir invited all the jarls, chiefs, petty kings and thanes of the realm. In a pact before the shrine of Odin, Ulfgir swore that once a successor was decided, from any amongst them, that Angvild could slay him in ritual battle and the feud would end.
The jarls agreed, and despite some siding with the few remaining Odinskyn house members the kingship was awarded to the Jarl Gunvor of Haastur, a neutral figure in the civil war who protected other houses and clans near his land.
