Jesen Moonsong, a captivating figure in the tapestry of the Eladrin realm, stands as a true embodiment of autumn's enigmatic beauty. With a stature that graces the realm at six feet and one inch, Jesen's presence commands attention. His eyes, a mesmerizing shade of green, hold a depth that seems to mirror the changing hues of a forest at twilight. Jesen's hair, a captivating blend of red and white, cascades like autumn leaves caught in a gentle breeze. Each strand tells a tale of the season's transition, a vivid reflection of the world's transformation. But beyond his striking appearance lies a personality that harmonizes with the spirit of autumn itself. An air of tranquility surrounds Jesen, his demeanor reflecting the introspective contemplation that accompanies the fall. Like the rustle of leaves underfoot, his voice holds a soothing quality, capable of both sharing wisdom and offering comfort. Whether amidst the vibrant foliage of the Feywild or in the heart of profound conversations, Jesen's presence exudes a sense of gentle calmness that draws kindred spirits like moths to a warm, welcoming flame.History
Jesen Moonsong, an enigmatic Eladrin, embarked on a journey of intrigue long before his arrival at Strixhaven University. Born into the splendor of the Feywild, he was destined for a life of complexities, shaped by the ever-shifting tides of emotion and ambition. From his earliest days, Jesen displayed an uncanny aptitude for music, his fingers dancing effortlessly across strings and holes, summoning hauntingly beautiful melodies from the pan flute and viol. However, even in his artistic pursuits, a darkness lurked beneath the harmonious surface. As he honed his skills, he also nurtured his talents for manipulation, honing his words like finely crafted instruments to bend the perceptions of those around him. Jesen's relationships, particularly with his twin brother Zima, were marked by a delicate balance of camaraderie and rivalry. Their bond was complex, their interactions veiled by an intricate web of camaraderie and competition, the threads of which Jesen expertly manipulated to serve his purposes. As Zima's keen insight challenged Jesen's deceptions, their dynamic evolved into a perpetual dance of trust and mistrust. Within the confines of the Feywild, Jesen's desires grew as boundless as the ever-changing landscapes. He sought recognition and power, driven by an insatiable hunger to elevate himself above the rest. His manipulative prowess, combined with his musical talents, allowed him to navigate the political currents of the Feywild's courts and intrigue, crafting alliances and sowing discord in equal measure. Jesen's relentless pursuit of recognition led him to a crossroads, a pivotal moment that culminated in his acceptance into Strixhaven University. The prestigious institution presented an opportunity for him to amplify his influence beyond the Feywild, to weave his schemes amidst the halls of magic and knowledge.Minliss Ereden
Minliss Ereden, a skilled Eladrin wizard and swashbuckling rogue, played a pivotal role in shaping his son Jesen Moonsong's character. Their intertwined history in the ever-shifting Feywild provides a unique backdrop for their relationship. From Jesen's earliest days, Minliss's influence was evident. As a versatile magic user and a charismatic rogue, Minliss exposed his son to a world of possibilities, both wondrous and treacherous. Their shared adventures, often delving into morally complex situations, created a bond based on shared experiences and a drive for personal gain. Jesen's coming of age was marked by his father's teachings. Minliss imparted the art of maneuvering through the intricate webs of power, showcasing the importance of resourcefulness, cunning, and seizing opportunities. This guidance, at times, verged on manipulation, as Minliss's lessons emphasized the need to achieve desired outcomes regardless of the means employed. The duo's relationship was not without its conflicts. Both were driven by an unwavering desire for personal advancement, leading to occasional clashes as they navigated their way through the Feywild's intricate politics. Yet, even in these moments of disagreement, a deep understanding and bond existed between them, rooted in their shared ambitions and familial ties. As Jesen embarked on his journey to Strixhaven University, Minliss's influence remained ever-present. His teachings and insights continued to shape Jesen's choices, informing his approach to challenges, interactions, and the moral dilemmas he encountered. Their intertwined history, marked by shared experiences and a pursuit of personal gain, laid the foundation for Jesen's path forward, as he forged his own destiny while carrying the echoes of his father's influence.Dayearis Moonsong
Dayearis Moonsong, the archfey of unyielding presence, casts a long shadow over her offspring, her influence weaving a complex tapestry of aspirations and rivalries. From a young age, Dayearis honed her scrutinizing gaze upon Jesen, her words a cutting reminder of his perceived shortcomings in comparison to his older brother, Nieven Moonsong. Jesen's relationship with his mother is one of paradoxical yearning and frustration. Dayearis's constant comparisons between him and Nieven have fueled both Jesen's determination to prove himself and his resentment towards his brother. Striving to earn his mother's elusive approval, Jesen often finds himself caught in a whirlwind of conflicting emotions, torn between seeking her validation and rejecting her calculated manipulations. Dayearis's penchant for orchestrating sibling rivalry casts a cloud of tension over Jesen's interactions with his brother. The barbs and comparisons have instilled in Jesen a fierce desire to carve his own path, to prove his worth on his own terms. While this familial discord has undoubtedly shaped Jesen's ambitions and drive, it has also sown seeds of doubt and insecurity, a haunting reminder of his mother's pervasive influence.Relationships

Insight: You take careful notes, but the equations and diagrams on the board stretch your understanding. The class is challenging, but not insurmountable—each concept is broken down with clear, methodical explanations. The real challenge isn’t the complexity of the magic itself but keeping up with the constant ethical debates the twins inject into every discussion. A simple demonstration of aura suppression turns into a ten-minute debate about whether temporarily dampening someone’s magical presence without their consent is a moral breach. You can’t help but respect their dedication to the subject, even if it sometimes feels excessive. Despite the occasional philosophical tangent, their approach is sensible, their reasoning always grounded in real-world applications. The magic is fascinating, the workload fair, and the professors, for all their quirks, are genuinely invested in making sure you and your classmates grasp the material.

Insight: The class is challenging, but Hofri explains concepts clearly, balancing historical analysis with hands-on demonstrations. He encourages you to think beyond just the techniques, pushing you to understand the intent and meaning behind magical art. The difficulty lies not in the material itself but in the depth of thought he expects from his students—there are no simple answers, only layers of interpretation. At least once per lecture, the discussion veers into ethics, even when it seems completely unrelated. A lesson on enchanted frescoes turns into a debate about whether preserving a magical painting alters the original artist’s intent. A discussion on spirit-bound sculptures shifts into the morality of giving the dead a physical form. Hofri is relentless in these debates, but he never pushes too hard—he just wants you to think. Despite the philosophical tangents, his approach is practical, his grading fair, and his enthusiasm infectious. You leave every class with your mind buzzing, the weight of history pressing against the present, urging you to see the world—and magic—through an artist’s eyes.

Insight: Nothing about this class is structured. Some students meticulously sketch blueprints, others immediately start mixing volatile ingredients, and at least one person is already putting out a small fire. Every time you think you've followed the assignment, Losheel raises an eyebrow and finds some absurd reason why it technically doesn’t count. “Sure, it exploded, but did it have flair? Did it tell a story? Did it challenge expectations?” It’s infuriating. You’re starting to suspect she’s deliberately trying to make you fail just to see how you’ll react. And somehow, amidst the bedlam of flying cogs and spontaneous combustion, she still manages to bring up ethics. “If you could make something explode remotely, does that make you responsible for the damage? If a firework display mimics a historical battle, are you celebrating or trivializing it?” The questions come out of nowhere and leave your brain just as scrambled as the half-melted gears on your worktable. By the end of class, you’re covered in soot, your project is only kind of on fire, and Losheel is nodding approvingly. “Now that,” she says, “is progress.” You have no idea what you actually learned, but you’re pretty sure she does.

Insight: You expected this class to be about performing spells with flair, maybe a few dramatic gestures or musical flourishes. Instead, it’s an intricate dance of rhythm, timing, and precision. Every spell you cast must harmonize with those around you, blending into a larger composition that Zaffai insists must be perfect. And if it’s not? The results range from harmless static shocks to near-catastrophic explosions. “Again!” he shouts whenever someone misses a beat, which is often. The class is far harder than you expected, and you can’t shake the feeling that he’s holding everyone to an impossibly high standard. And then there’s the ethics. Zaffai treats every performance like a sacred ritual, constantly lecturing on the responsibility of wielding magic in artistic expression. “A performance shapes the soul! It influences those who witness it! You must ask yourself—what message does your magic send?” At first, you found it insightful, but now you just wish he’d ease up a little. You’re here to learn, not to change the world with a single dramatic flourish. By the end of class, your hands are sore from casting, your ears are ringing from yet another magical crescendo gone wrong, and Zaffai is already critiquing everyone’s intent behind their spellwork. It’s exhausting, frustrating, and demanding in ways you never expected—but when the class does get it right, the sheer beauty of the magic makes it all worth it.

Insight: Introduction to Cryptozoology is quickly becoming a nightmare. You were excited at first—the idea of studying rare and hidden creatures sounded amazing—but Professor Arkin Minexes is making it nearly impossible to enjoy. He’s peppy and full of energy, but that doesn’t make up for the fact that he seems determined to trip you up at every turn. The assignments are relentless, and the grading? Brutal. Every tiny mistake feels like it’s magnified under a microscope, and you're starting to wonder if he’s actually trying to fail you. There’s no room for error in his class, and the smallest misstep can cost you dearly. You’ve begun double-checking every answer and over-preparing for every test, but it never seems to be enough. And then there’s the ethics. Somehow, no matter the topic—whether you’re discussing the diet of a griffon or the migration patterns of a jackalope—Professor Minexes manages to turn it into a debate about ethics. At first, it seemed thoughtful, even necessary. But now, it’s just frustrating. It doesn’t matter if it’s a simple fact or a complex theory; he’ll find a way to twist it into an ethical dilemma, and you’re left wondering what any of it has to do with actually learning about cryptozoology. You leave each class feeling drained, almost as if Professor Minexes is daring you to survive the course. It’s a challenge just to keep your head above water, and you’re starting to think that he enjoys watching students struggle.

The subject matter, the intertwining of magic and plant life, is fascinating on its own, but what really makes the class enjoyable is Professor Onyx’s approach. Unlike some of your other professors, Onyx is easy to follow and explains the material in a way that just makes sense. There’s no convoluted theories or endless ethical debates—just practical knowledge delivered with clarity. The coursework is straightforward, and even when you encounter something new or challenging, it never feels overwhelming. You notice that despite her slightly dark humor, which occasionally casts a shadow over her otherwise professional demeanor, her lessons are incredibly sensible. Cadoras Damellawar v
- Rosimyffenbip and Cadoras both share a love for the LARP guild and can often be found practicing their stage fighting at the archway commons. Cadoras thinks Rosie is potentially the coolest student on campus.
- Grayson and Cadoras have a sometimes intimate relationship. They first met when Cadoras approached the Future Entrepreneurs of Strixhaven with a business idea he had. Cadoras enjoys that Grayson’s lifestyle is so different to theirs, and yet they are so willing to share it. Cadoras hopes he can get Grayson to join the LARP guild eventually.
- Melwythorne has been annoyed at Cadoras ever since he saw them using Melwythorne’s favourite reading tree as target practice. Cadoras did not appreciate Melwythorne making the tree attack him back.
- Nora has disliked Cadoras ever since his smelly food habits attracted some stirges from the campus grounds, and threatened her chances at getting the Dormitories Resident Assistant position.
Grayson Wildemere v
- Cadoras approached Grayson with an idea for a tabletop role-playing game, and the two are now working together to market it to others on campus. Grayson is enjoying the ‘simpler’ life Cadoras leads, as it’s a good change from the responsibilities placed on him by his family.
- Quentillius and Grayson had an on-off relationship for many years before they both joined Strixhaven. Whatever their current status is, they still have a lot of affection for one another.
- Mina and Grayson are best described as frenemies. Often they approach the same task at the Strixhaven Star from opposite ends of the spectrum. Whilst he appreciates the competition, he still thinks Mina’s methods are pushy and invasive.
- Tilana finds Grayson mean spirited. One of the first things Grayson wrote about in his gossip column made Larine (Tilana’s friend) seem weird for dancing with a fish she found
Larine Arneza v
- Quentillius approached Larine after his first show and thanked her specifically for the time and work she’d put into making it a success. The two bonded quickly and have been friends ever since.
- Rubina suggested Larine take the ticket seller job after she heard it was up for grabs. This, and sharing a dorm together, have made them fast friends.
- Tilana and Larine loved the more active lessons that Quandrix professors offered, and partner up when given the opportunity.
- Larine avoids Greta at The Biblioplex at all costs, as she finds herself easily distracted by Greta’s raucous nature. Especially if Greta has just come from watching a match of silkball at the Strixhaven Stadium.
Nora Ann Wu v
- Mina’s ethics with investigative journalism have always impressed Nora, and Nora believes this has taught her a lot about how she can help the students she counsels.
- Melwythorne is a kind soul in Nora’s opinion, and she loves the conversations they have regarding identity and community.
- Tilana and Nora have bonded greatly since joining Strixhaven. Nora looked after Tilana amidst the chaos of orientation. Ever since, the two are seen spending a lot of time together, and there are rumours that this is an intimate relationship.
- Bhedum refuses to put away their weaponry and armour, even when attending group counselling sessions, leading to some animosity between Bhedum and Nora.
- Cadoras nearly cost Nora her chance at becoming the dormitories resident assistant in an open day she ran, before he was even a student
Quentillius Antiphiun Melentor III v
- Larine has been a great source of inspiration for Quentillius ever since he saw her perform as part of the Intramural Water-Dancing Club during the first week. He admires her skill and how her balletic movements seem effortless.
- Grayson and Quentillius have a chequered past together, but since they have arrived on campus, the pair have resolved to support each other no matter what. Quentillius believes that fate binds them to some degree, and remarks on the bond they’ve forged with an intensity and pride.
- Drazhomir annoyed Quentillius after flaking on meetings they had planned for tutoring Quentillius in translations. Because of this, Quentillius still doesn’t understand a particular phrase from his favourite monologue.
- Tilana asked Quentillius about his acting methods, and Quentillius shared what he could. Quentillius only later found out Tilana was using these methods to better deceive her opponents during dragonchess matches. Quentillius hates being used.
- Rubina is Quentillius’ natural rival within the Playactors Drama guild. He finds that Rubina’s ‘method acting’ as officers and politicians, causing her to command the backstage crew to do her bidding, rude and unnecessary.
Rosimyffenbip “Rosie” Wuzfeddlims v
- Cadoras and Rosimyffenbip are a whirr of fast and excitable talking whenever they’re together. Usually they enthusiastically review one of their latest ‘sessions’ or get into an intellectual debate about some new ‘build’ the other has come up with. Rosie thinks Cadoras is bundles of fun and wants nothing more than to see her best friend succeed.
- Drazhomir and Rosimyffenbip are an unlikely dynamic. Almost at opposite ends of the spectrum in terms of size, speed, and how much they speak -Rosie finds that Drazhomir’s calm and quiet nature helps her relax after an exciting day at the LARP guild, or after a stressful day refereeing. She has grown very fond of her bookish friend, and mainly finds time to study, just so that she can spend time with him.
- Javenesh is friendly to everyone, but Rosimyffenbip has had more than a few close calls with him whilst refereeing skillball, and is annoyed by how oblivious he seems to be regarding the speed at which he tackles others, especially when he has such an imposing and dense build. This annoyance has bled into Rosie’s interactions with Javenesh on campus.
Rubina Larkingdale v
- Larine and Rubina were dorm mates. Rubina’s intensity and Larine’s laid back nature make the two work well together, one often balancing out the other.
- Mina and Rubina locked heads after Mina’s investigative journalism on the Strixhaven Show Band Association disrupted the bands' rehearsal time. Later, when Rubina went to get lunch at the Firejolt café, Mina continued her questioning, compelling Rubina to tell Mina, decisively, that she should “stop asking such ridiculous questions and give me my sandwich.” This is now a popular meme on campus, much to both Rubina and Mina’s chagrin.
- Quentillius, in Rubina’s opinion, relies far too much on the rule of three when performing his improvised monologues, causing them to meander around their core idea. Rubina believes Quentillius acts without technique, focusing only on emotion.
Tilana Kapule v
- Bhedum impressed Tilana with their ability to morph and change their tactics in Dragonchess at a moment's notice, earning her respect.
- Nora was quick to protect the first years during the chaos of orientation. Since then, Tilana has grown close to Nora, enjoying how good a listener she is.
- Larine is a nice change of pace for Tilana, considering the intense focus required to play Dragonchess at her level, and her physically challenging silkball practices. Tilana enjoys studying with Larine greatly.
- Grayson’s gossip column has brought a bad name on campus to those involved in the Dragonchess society, painting them as a society of manipulators. Tilana believes Grayson is just sour that she consistently beat him at the game as a child, and now he hates it.
- Quentillius and Tilana used to be close friends growing up, however her attempts to continue this friendship have become strained ever since Quentillius accused her of using him for her own personal gain.
Summer Camp Insights
Jesen and Drazhomir Yarnask – Potion Brewing
v
Jesen and Drazhomir were paired up for a potion-brewing challenge, and while Jesen appreciated Drazhomir’s methodical approach, they couldn’t help but wish he’d experiment a little more. Drazhomir, on the other hand, kept scolding Jesen for trying to mix in "mystery ingredients" just to see what would happen. By the end, their potion turned out fine, but Jesen thought Drazhomir was way too uptight, while Drazhomir was convinced Jesen was a reckless menace in the lab.
Jesen and Grayson Wildemere – Illusionary Theater
v
During an illusionary storytelling contest, Jesen and Grayson worked together to create a dramatic, action-packed story with interactive illusions. Jesen loved how Grayson was willing to push the boundaries of magic for fun, but every now and then, Grayson would hold back, insisting on keeping things “structured.” While they had a great time overall, Jesen found it frustrating when Grayson played it safe, and Grayson wished Jesen would stop trying to rewrite the rules of reality mid-performance.
Jesen and Javenesh Stoutclaw – Magical Dueling
v
Jesen thought sparring with Javenesh would be a blast, but Javenesh insisted on following all the proper dueling protocols to the letter. Jesen kept trying to sneak in flashy, unconventional moves, while Javenesh lectured them on honor and discipline. Jesen ended up losing the match, grumbling that Javenesh needed to loosen up, while Javenesh walked away shaking his head at Jesen’s reckless disregard for the rules.
Jesen and Larine Arneza – Animal Handling
v
During a magical beast training session, Jesen and Larine were assigned a mischievous pseudo-dragon to tame. Jesen wanted to go with a more chaotic, fun approach, while Larine insisted on patience and structure. By the end, the pseudo-dragon had stolen Jesen’s wand and Larine’s notebook, leaving Jesen laughing and Larine sighing about how some people just don’t take responsibility seriously.
Jesen and Melwythorne – Nature Magic Study
v
Jesen and Melwythorne were tasked with growing magical plants using nature spells, and Jesen was immediately frustrated by how slow and methodical Melwythorne insisted on being. Jesen wanted to push the magic to its limits, experimenting with wild growth spurts, while Melwythorne lectured them on the balance of nature. The session ended with Jesen’s plant growing too fast and wilting, while Melwythorne’s remained perfectly stable—Jesen admitted Melwythorne was talented but still way too cautious.
Jesen and Mina Lee – Puzzle Solving
v
Jesen and Mina were locked in an enchanted maze and had to work together to escape, but Jesen quickly got frustrated with Mina’s insistence on following every rule and clue exactly as written. Jesen wanted to blast through walls and take shortcuts, while Mina insisted on solving the puzzles properly. They eventually made it out, but Jesen grumbled the whole way, wishing Mina would take more risks, while Mina sighed at Jesen’s impatience.
Jesen and Nora Ann Wu – Elemental Magic Games
v
Jesen and Nora competed in a game where they had to use elemental spells to navigate an obstacle course. Jesen appreciated that Nora was fun and competitive, but whenever Jesen tried something risky, Nora would warn them about safety and strategy. They both performed well, but Jesen walked away wishing Nora would embrace more chaos, while Nora was convinced Jesen would get themselves hurt one day.
Jesen and Shuvadri Glintmantle – Ritual Magic Study
v
Jesen found ritual magic incredibly boring, and having to study it with Shuvadri made it even worse—she followed every instruction exactly and wouldn’t let Jesen skip steps. Jesen kept trying to speed up the process or make the ritual “more exciting,” but Shuvadri shot down every idea. By the end, the ritual was successful, but Jesen was thoroughly annoyed, while Shuvadri was convinced Jesen had no patience for real magic.
Jesen and Tilana Kapule – Enchanted Relay Race
v
Jesen and Tilana were on the same team for an enchanted relay race, using teleportation magic to pass the baton. Jesen loved that Tilana was willing to be creative with her spells, making their team a real competitor. However, every time Jesen suggested something too risky, Tilana would rein them in—Jesen thought she was being a little too careful, while Tilana thought Jesen was tempting disaster.
Jesen and Zanther Bowen – Aerial Acrobatics
v
Jesen was excited to try aerial spell acrobatics with Zanther, but quickly found his energy overwhelming. Zanther’s unpredictable moves made it hard to coordinate, and Jesen kept having to adapt on the fly to keep up. While they both had fun, Jesen left the session exhausted, wishing Zanther would be a little more controlled, while Zanther found Jesen’s complaints amusing.
