Bek Irsu
The characters first encounter Bek Irsu along a cliffside, forest path between Ambury Temple and the Regal Respite after a fight with several strange, robed creatures that dissolved into a tar-like substance upon their death.
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
In his mid-20’s, Bek Irsu is a precocious youth with a chiseled chin and sharp features that have always played well with the ladies. He is relatively short at 5'9" and thin, but not boney. In addition to his dark brown, almost black hair and olive to dusky skin, his Khahadan nameday tatoos run vertically from each eye and the center of his mouth indicate his origins. When he calls upon the power of his patron, his right eye and tatoo glow an orangish yellow, like the glow of fire seen through a window.
Mental characteristics
Personal history
Bek comes from the capital of Khahad, Atrah but is only half-Khahadan on his mother’s side. His father is from Cetium, the capitol of Fiumen. He was born into a wealthy merchant family and had a relatively normal childhood, achieving his nameday tatoos on his 15th naming day. His parents were able to afford the tuition to enroll Bek in Atrah Academy where his aptitude for numbers and history led to training to enter government service. However, during an internship in the head government building of Atrah, he was in the wrong place at the wrong time and witnessed a ceremony that keeps the head mage alive, the slaughter of innocents and drinking of their blood. Bek discovered the truth behind the mage circle and his grandmother’s death ten years before; he vowed to topple the rule of the mages.
He fled Khahad and ended up being seduced by the clergy of the New Gods where he promised his soul to them if they could aid in his quest. Through this act, he gained his warlock powers and the patronage of Morkemmen. Too late, he discovered the true nature of Morkemmen, but has justified this as the means to an end and is willing to accept the patronage of a demon (this converts his alignment from Chaotic Neutral to chaotic evil)
CURRENT SITUATION
Working toward the success of Morkemmen’s plans by following the orders of the clergy who pass on information. Deep down he knows something less than altruistic is fueling the followers of Morkemmen, but he is ignoring this and trying not to think about it too much.
(later – by 4th level) He will receive direct visions through the orb with the embedded drop of Morkemmen’s blood. Prior to this, Bek could not communicate with his patron directly. He now knows for sure that Morkemmen is a demon and has accepted this as necessary to “save” Khahad – alignment is now Chaotic Evil.
