Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
Depending on what crosses paths with a goblin horde makes each group unique. Goblins are capable of domesticating many beasts including rats and wolves. Goblins also use their guerilla tactics allows them to capture or subjugate creatures much larger than them. It is not unheard of for an ogre to be in in the ranks of a goblin horde or to have an owlbear caged within their caves.
However the rule of "might is right" works both ways. Goblins often find themselves strong-armed into the service of Bugbears and Gnolls. These tentative alliances do increase their chances of survival as well as taking on bigger threats, but being subservient is never where a goblin wants to be. If the opportunity arises, goblins will throw off their shackles and flee or exact revenge on their rulers if they were particularly cruel.
