Tempus
Warbringer
Mathias Oberhelm was a celebrated general, the leader of the human armies that forced the elves out during the Great War. Accepting the praise that was heaped on him and his newfound clout, Oberhelm completed the Rite of Deification and ascended to godhood, only the second mortal ever to do so.
Taking the divine name Tempus, he supported brutal but effective war tactics. The previous elven warriors and their deities preached the elven methods of archery and beautiful swordsmanship in service of elven dominance over others. In life and after, Tempus taught tactics like shield walls, phalanxes, and grapple fighting -- all of which the elves viewed as barbaric. Over time, his message has evolved into "win at any costs, but try to remain honorable."
Tempus formerly had a large temple complex dedicated to him in Lyesa, during the era of the Astorio Empire and its focus on military conquest of its neighbors. After that period in history, the temple was repurposed (now serving as the main temple of Helm) and Tempus was given a smaller shrine in Lyesa, in the military and guard fortress.
