Primus Deus Machina |1|

The first god machine was dreamed up in Alterr by Dr. Y'zarr Tepek in a fit of Oyl induced madness and inspiration. It is said the genius inventor spent three months in isolation, creating the blueprints, after having a fever dream of a machine that could think for itself. After securing funding from Alterr's Grand Academy, the doctor and his team of engineers and students, built the massive machine in the city's central square and a cathedral to house it.

Unlike previous Oyl powered engines that could burn the sacred substance and produce motion or energy, the god machine could produce portents and prophecies in response to stimuli. Supplicants could ask the Primus a question about anything imaginable and be granted a vision of the true nature of reality. After being anointed by the machine's processed Oyl, supplicants could perceive the otherworldly chords of the Machina's mass of pipes and valves speaking to them truths about the past, the future, and anything in-between.

While many outside Alterr dismissed the invention as religious hallucination, they could not the deny the rapid advancements make in the study of physics and chemistry by the Alterrans in the years to follow. Dr. Tepek's own visions granted by the Primus would spur him to create 6 more God Machines, each more impressive than the last.
