Oyltomatans

The Oyltomatans are the children of Rüntalyst, the second God Machine. Rüntalyst created them as helper beings and to keep it company.

There have been no new Oyltomatans since at least the Cataclysm, though production had weaned down since 10BC and the beginning of the volcanic era.

Oyltomatans consider themselves naturally above the Fleshed, but are generally kind to their lessers. After all, they helped to assemble them.

Oyltomatans require frequent maintenance. Without a tune-up, they can fall into disrepair. They are social beings, and require another creature to perform the maintenance on them.

Oyltomatans do not need to eat. However, they do like to eat. They can be equipped with taste sensors that create sensation that they interpret as taste. They calibrate these sensors by interacting with tongued people and asking questions about what things taste like.

Oyltomatan

Construct

Oyltomatans are artificial beings made of inorganic material. You add +2 to recover from being Shaken or Stunned, ignore one level of Wound modifiers, don’t breathe or sleep, and are immune to disease and poison. Wounds must be mended via the Repair skill. Each attempt takes one hour per current Wound level and ignores the “Golden Hour”.

Infravision

You take a wider range of the electromagnetic spectrum than just visible light, allowing you to "see" heat radiation. This halves illumination penalties when attacking warm targets (including invisible beings).

Ambidextrous

Without the quirks of an organic brain, you have no natural preference for your left or right hand and can use both equally. You ignore the Off Hand penalty (p104). If holding a weapon in each hand, you may stack Parry bonuses (if any) from each weapon.

Blank Slate

You do not start the game with any of the 5 core skills at a d4. You may acquire them normally as you would other untrained skills.

Arrogant

You don't simply think you are the best, you know that you are superior to any being of flesh. Whether it's swordsmanship, wrestling, or painting, few compare to your skills and you flaunt it each chance you get,
Winning isn't enough for you. You want to dominate your opponents and prove that no one is better than you. You're the type of fighter who disarms an opponent in a duel just to pick up the sword and hand it back with a smirk. Arrogant individuals look for the greatest threat in battle, hacking their way through lesser minions only because they're in the way.

Maintenance Dependency

You must be tuned up by another sentient being for an hour each day or you will fall into disrepair. This process includes both physical oyling, tightening, adjusting, etc. as well as socializing and intellectual connection. Each day without a tune up, you gain a level of Fatigue until you are Incapacitated. Each hour spent being repaired restores a level of Fatigue.
