Quick Guide:
Currency
There are three main currencies throughout the game. Some systems or governments may have their own in world currency, but at least 1 of the 3 is accepted in any given scenario. The prevailing currency is that of Energy Credits (EC). This is the most widely used currency in the Alpha Quadrant. You can easy convert to EC as it is a 1:1 ratio to GP value (or rounded in case of Silver and Copper). Some item, armor, and weapon costs have been adjusted for this. In more unscrupulous situations or those who live outside a dominating power, credits are not worth much. Electrum (ET) is far more rare and you can tell the age by how brightly it glows. Very old Electrum tends to flicker or is dim. It comes in 2 forms: Pieces and Bars. The Piece is the most common and is worth 20EC. The Bar is less common and is worth 25 Pieces / 500EC. The rarest form of currency is Refined Tristellian (RT) crystals. Many warp vessels use these crystals in their warp drive and also as energy sources. Refined Tristellian is worth 5000EC. Unrefined ore can be converted through special processing. Unrefined ore is worth 1000EC.- | EC | ET (Piece) | ET (Bar) | RT |
EC | 1 | 1/20 | 1/500 | 1/5000 |
ET (Piece) | 20 | 1 | 1/25 | 1/250 |
ET (Bar) | 500 | 25 | 1 | 1/10 |
RT | 5000 | 500 | 10 | 1 |
Backgrounds
The existing backgrounds from source books are compatible with a few thematic tweaks here and there. Adjust any currency given to the nearest GP value and convert it to EC as stated in the currency section. In addition, a few skills have been changed. Please see the Player Skills section and map given skill proficiencies to the proper modified version. New backgrounds can be found on the Backgrounds Page (TBD). Back To TopChanges to Damage:
There is an additional damage type: Plasma. In addition each damage type is associated with a particular damage class: kinetic, energy, or exotic. Unless a particular item or effect states otherwise, the damage type falls into the listed category.- Kinetic: Dealing with physical impact or force.
- Energy: Elemental in nature or of a focused energy nature.
- Exotic: Unusual or highly chaotic and lethal. Due to this, not many defenses exist.
Name | Type | Description |
---|---|---|
Acid | Energy |
Corrosive sprays and dissolving enzymes deal acid damage. |
Bludgeoning | Kinetic |
Blunt force attacks like hammers, falling, constriction, and the like deal bludgeoning damage. |
Cold | Energy |
The draining of heat, frigid blasts, and unique particle weapons can blast freezing energy and deal cold damage. Extreme environments can also lead to exposure to cold damage. |
Fire | Energy |
Both elemental fire and similar effects like radiation and thermal burns are connected to fire damage. |
Force | Exotic |
Force is unusual in its nature. It's long held mystical connection is undisputed. Only a few technological sources can produce the effect. |
Lightning | Energy |
The electrical contact from shocks, surges, and even bolts of lightning deal out lightning energy. |
Necrotic | Exotic |
Necrotic energy withers matter and even the soul. It drains the life and energy from others or rapidly imposes decay or destruction. Anti-matter and radioactive energy weapons along with mystical sources deal necrotic energy. |
Piercing | Kinetic |
Puncturing and impaling attacks, including spears and monsters' bites, deal piercing damage. |
Plasma | Exotic |
Plasma is the fourth elemental state with unusual properties. Super heated gas the likes of which compose stars and lightning bolts constitutes plasma. Some conduits and weapons can harness plasma for damage. |
Poison | Exotic |
Caused by venomous stings and toxic gas among natural or synthetic poisons. |
Psychic | Exotic |
Mental abilities such as a psionic blast deal psychic damage. |
Radiant | Energy |
Radiant damage sears the flesh like fire. This is casued by focused beams of light, photonic charges, or mystical holy energy. |
Slashing | Kinetic |
Swords, axes, and monsters' claws deal slashing damage. |
Thunder | Kinetic |
A concussive burst of sound dealt by sonic devices, explosive charges, or similar cases deal thunder damage. |
