Ghazeer

A once ancient oasis city has boomed into a legendary metropolis over the last century. Ghazeer boasts vast wealth with possibly the largest and most diverse population in the world. Far travelers from across the lands have settled here in search of prosperity and opportunity. With adjacency to Elder’s Pass, they are the gatekeepers to trade and travel between Oros and the rest of the known world. The great city also enjoys control of much of the sparsely populated surrounding deserts and has gained a formidable, albeit inexperienced army.   This rising power is more interested in trade than expansion or statecraft. Their focus is on amassing gold and building its great monuments such as the Pyramid of Rhak and The Palace of the Sundered Star. The Princes and Princesses of Kazaam rule this city and the surrounding deserts under a promise of freedom and opportunity for all its citizens. That said, members of the royal bloodline are known as much for their lavish exploits and scandals as they are for their generosity.   A state of unease grows in the city with talk of a looming threat. In an effort to avoid conflict, a deal was stuck with Naggarith. Ghazeer stood by and watched while countless ships carried a potentially hostile army straight onto their doorstep. Now the only question is whether the Dread Lord will choose to comply with the agreement, or perhaps a deal with the devil has already been signed.
From the Journal of Xanaar Shallermanx:   To spend one’s adolescence on the sea is to imply that “home” is more of a concept than a place or an object, but if I had to retroactively assign that title to a place, it would certainly be Ghazeer. Gardo and Anatrix Shallermanx found many reasons to return to this world’s crossroads; curios from beyond the Immortal Peaks, Ghazeeri spices they'd developed a taste for, the warm, knitted fabrics the nomadic Firbolgs traded in, and of course, gossip.   Word travels in many ways. Like light, it can travel forever on wind or ethereally. Sometimes, it finds something that absorbs it and disappears from the world. More often, it finds the ear of a sailor or trader or curious young dragonborn and travels through twisting alleyways and under linen drapes, enriching the world. Ghazeer brings people from as far off as Frosthold and Garspire and mingles their knowledge together to create a blend of knowledge as tempting as any rare dish.   In another town, my tutor and caretaker would direct me into a library or other storehold of knowledge in search of some obscure tome, but in Ghazeer the library was the great cosmopolis itself. Mingled in amongst the droning calls of "Pull. Pull. Pull," or the casual discussion of the right fabric for the dinner party that straddled the coming cool of the day, Situ Musa taught me wisdom was waiting out in the open to be found.
