Temple Row
District of Faith and Fracture
“All gods are welcome in Suzail — though some must enter by the side door.” — High Priest Lurean of the Dawnspire
Overview
Temple Row is Suzail’s spiritual heart — a winding boulevard of shrines and sanctuaries that host nearly every major faith in Faerûn. From the grand Temple of Lathander to the shadowed chapels of Mask and Shar, this district embodies the uneasy balance between holiness and hypocrisy.
In recent decades, new sects have emerged: Magistone-theologians preaching salvation through artifice, and rogue clerics claiming visions of divine interference in mortal invention. The War Wizards tolerate them for now, but the tension grows with each sermon.
History & Function
Temple Row rose alongside the Crownspire centuries ago, meant to show Cormyr’s divine favor. It flourished after the Sundering Rift, when magic and faith collided and people sought comfort in both. Temples grew opulent; priests became courtiers.
During the Magistone Renaissance, faith adapted or fractured. Holy relics were retrofitted with Magistone “enhancements,” and divine miracles began to blur with science. By the Siege of Suzail, many priests quietly fear their gods no longer listen — or worse, that something else does.
