Radiant Frames

Imperial Designation: Exo-Custodia Type IX
Colloquial Name: “The Emperor’s Tombs”

Overview

The Radiant Frames were the Empire’s final and most audacious creation — colossal, Magistone-powered exosuits designed to turn mortal soldiers into avatars of divine warfare.
Each frame was a gilded prison of white and gold alloy, etched with harmonic sigils and fed by a living heart.

To pilot a Radiant Frame was to die by degrees. The Magistone core required constant synchronization with the pilot’s pulse, drawing energy from both blood and spirit. The longer the link held, the brighter the Frame burned — until its pilot’s soul was reduced to embers.

They were humanity’s last attempt to match the might of the titans… and a reminder of why they should never have tried.

Design & Function

  • Height: 9–11 ft depending on configuration
  • Power Source: Dual Magistone Core (organic + synthetic fusion)
  • Material: Auric-steel alloy trimmed with engraved Magistone channels
  • Interface: Direct neural-thread linkage along the spine, binding pilot heartbeat to Frame rhythm
  • Mobility: Assisted by harmonic gyros; capable of short aerial leaps or shockwave dashes
  • Armaments:
  • Radiant Halberd — converts pulse resonance into crackling kinetic bursts
  • Aether Displacer — chest-mounted emitter channeling compressed Magistone flares
  • Purity Shroud — defensive field that converts ambient magic into blinding light

The activation sequence, known as the Chorus of Ascension, required three artificers and a field magister to harmonize the pilot’s vitals with the Frame’s pulse. Each ignition began with silence — followed by a low hum that grew into a resonant hymn.

Drawbacks & Failures

The Radiant Frames’ brilliance was matched only by their fragility. No pilot survived more than a handful of missions.

Known Failures:

  • Neural Overburn: The spinal conduits charred the nervous system within hours.
  • Resonance Bleed: Harmonic output scorched all living beings within twenty paces.
  • Containment Drift: Prolonged activation destabilized ley-lines, stripping nearby terrain of magical life.
  • Soul Imprint: Upon death, the pilot’s essence often remained trapped inside the Frame’s lattice, manifesting as faint harmonic echoes when touched.

Operational Duration: 90–120 minutes before catastrophic failure.

Operational History

Only six Radiant Frames were constructed during the late civil war — Dawn, Chorus, Solace, Oath, Valor, and Grave.

They first appeared in the Brightfire Offensives, where their presence alone was enough to sway battles. Each step left molten footprints; each strike melted stone.

The surviving Frames were sealed beneath the Imperial Citadel, their cores still pulsing at irregular intervals.

Legacy

The Radiant Frames embodied everything the Obarskyr Empire believed itself to be — radiant, eternal, and untouchable — and everything it truly was: fragile, desperate, and burning from within.

“They burned so brightly that we mistook the fire for faith.”
