Free Captains

The Organization that calls the far reaches their home. They are a combination of merchants, Mercenaries, Treasure hunters and Pirates in one. They don´t discriminate by race or background and have a high unity.
They are not bound to any city, nor do they show outright allegiance to the Imperium. They are either allies or enemies depending on how they are approached. Skykers are trained individuals who can influence sea and sky while on a ship—–a skill known as "tuning"—–with the use of special saltstones and lodestones. These stones are expensive and difficult to procure, but they help the Skyker create wind, calm seas, and even summon sea monsters. Cartography, Carpentry, shipmanship, Arithmetic and fighting prowess are in high standing. Many captains have invested into recall magic to have a backup plan in case they encounter impossible odds. Because of this the empire wasn´t able to effectively gain the upper hand because almost every won battle is a hollow victory. The free captains have vast monetary resources to fall back on and ships, maps and weapon are quick to replace. There is another unusual practice used by the Free captains, as they are often on crusade, childbirth and family falls short. To bolster their numbers, they often ask for payment in lives and buy orphans and slaves to integrate into their huge family. Free captains look after each other and have almost no discrimination going on. Some embrace this change of fate some hate it, nevertheless the free captains make sure anyone can contribute and does so. Oath and contract breaker are forever remembered and fiercely punished.
