Fire Marsh
This stretch of shallow marshland is covered by thick grasses of brilliant crimson. The ubiquitous red grasses - called "Fire grass" by locals - are prized by painters and calligraphers, as they can be turned into red pigment that holds well both upon canvas and page. The powerful natural dye affects even feathers of the birds, and the scales of the fish, that make this marsh their home. It also has some reflecting properties so watching a school of fish swim by while light reflects on their scales or a flock of birds often looks like a moving fire.
