Beastfolk
The artificial created monsters reared by the Broodmothers of the Empire.
It was just recently that the Empress again readied herself for war. As the new elven goddess of magic, power, order and lust. She had held back and slowly made the elves into her instrument of power. And finally the elves expanded their magic into uncharted territory. The first brood chamber was established 800 years ago and the first batch of willing female members led inside. From there came the Empress´ newest pets and future core part of their army. While the elves would be her Soldiers and generals these new pets would be her suicide squad. The beastfolks were made. A race so different it is a stretch to define it as a race. In the breading chamber the female elves were put under ritual magic and then breed by various beast and monsters. The magic then forced a pregnancy and at the end the beastfolk was born. Barely smarter than the beast they originated from they had one big selling point, they where utterly loyal to their mothers. These broodmothers can seldom birth more then 2-3 such beastfolk before their womb is broken, but they are provided for extensively and it counts as a very honourable position. To offer her body and womb for the sake of the empire is, while sometimes distasteful, still counted as a great sacrifice. The beastfolk see elves as their family but only the mother of a beastfolk can effectively order a beastfolk around. Because of this the highest form of prestige a female elf can have in the empire is by either becoming a high Mage or by becoming a beast binder, an elven brood mother who fights on the battlefield with her children. While the eternal Empress gained strong allies through that she also lost many. More than one elf found the act of being a mindless beasts mate distasteful and many opinions are that the Empress has gone too far in her quest for conquest. Now that the Empress has new children many started thinking if the Empress was actually an “elven“ godess or only “a” goddess. With her empire in a dangerous state the eternal Empress has once more decided to bide her time and consolidate her power and her war efforts have been reduced. Now 80 years later the Empress still hold sway over the elves but many became disillusioned with the Empress and her methods. She still wages some skirmished here and there and especially the Earth sea is mostly under the control of the imperial navy, but there has not been a major war for many years. Undoubtedly the eternal Empress will once again wage war as she will not stop until she has conquered all, but the eternal Empress rates holding onto power as more important than expanding it. After all she is eternal and time is on her side. As the life in the empire is very strict individuality comes with some restrictions. As most people wear matching outfits based on their station, no such restriction are made on the materials or colours used. Tailors are a very sought after profession. While in empire lands you can see the whole spectrum of colours and dyed hair. As individuality comes short people adapted and found loop holes.
